    ya could always do the last resort and back everything up and reinstall windows, if that dont work you got hardware issues.

    Download CCleaner and clean your hard drive, probably wouldn't hurt to run Avast! either.

    Uninstalling and reinstalling/installing an updated version of your video drivers may help. You could also try reinstalling Project64; I had to do this recently to get it working again, never did figure out why it stopped working in the first place.

    Probably overheating of some kind. Take your computer apart and clean out the fans on the processor and case etc.

    You said it has onboard video, so no graphics card to worry about. However it may be worth trying to get a hold of a friend's PCI-E or AGP video card (not sure what your motherboard will have) or just a cheap video card from anywhere to see if the problem goes away.
