Default Bigger SD cards make Wii games hang/lag

whenever i use an SD card bigger than 2GB it makes the games hang/lag i bought and 8GB which i just ended up using in my 3DS which doesn't lag go figure.

anyone know why? i have one of the earlier wii models (6 months after launch) and my friend has one that does the same thing

If your Wii doesn't have system menu 4.0 or higher it can't use SDHC cards (any card bigger then 2 gigs). Some homebrew can regardless, but the Wii itself will have trouble. Check what you system menu version is, if it's not 4.0 or higher then that is likely your problem.

It will all depend on the SD card "class"
Class 2 is garbage and you should simply toss these out, 4 is poor but better and 6 is pretty good. Shoot for higher though. I hear they make class 10's now.
Classes refer to the transfers speeds.

it is a "DANE-ELEC PROLINE 200X 8GB SDHC Class (10" exactly as written on the card

also, now that it is in my 3DS i notice it takes slightly longer to turn on, but everything else is just as fast
