    WODE seems like it would be much easier, but I would still prefer to use hardware already own [saves $] to play via USB Loaders. Right now I'm stuck with getting .ISO games onto my USB that is formatted to WBFS [i've used the manager, but it never loads the games to the WBFS drive or copies them. see picture -> http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/52/wbfs1.jpg/

    when I click add to drive--it says added to drive entries, but doesn't copy over to the left side

    Yeah WODE is much easier for loading images imo.
    I just use NTFS filesystem.......quick and easy to just add new images using a pc.
    WODE is dead simple to use to make backups of your retail games (Wii or NGC)........I've never had any errors or issues.

    I've always preferred quality hardmods over softmods (given a choice), and money has never been an issue for me.
    I think of it as an investment (in this case I never really spent much money on Wii or NGC games).

    you said it takes .ISO and .GCM right?
    ===
    the reason i prefer to softmod and load via HDD or have the option to use a channel is that I put all my system behind my TV--out of sight, out of mind, but they still work and i never have to touch them--did anyone make a channel/forwarder/gui for it yet?
    if so--i'll pick one up, but im not too happy about having to set my wii upright
    ===
    really my only problem is getting my .ISOs to .WBFS format--if i could figure that out, I could play

    Yep, it loads .gcm images the same as .iso.........it treats them as retail DVD discs in the DVD drive.

    You'll need to check the WODE forums for answers and details about your second question as I don't do that on mine

    WODE supports WBFS if you still want to use that (but I just use NTFS with .iso and .gcm images).

    i hate wbfs because its not common--i need to convert my .ISOs to .WBFS, wiibackup manager isn't helping as it only reads WBFS files/drives
    ===
    when using a FAT/32 or NTSC format, what should the root look like?

    like Z:\whateveritshouldbe\game.iso

    because I have yet to see these .ISOs load [can't find a way to convert .ISO files to .WBFS on my PC as I do not wish to rerip all my games

    Using WODE?

    I use 1TB NTFS partition.

    One folder on the root > /ISO

    All the images are in that folder.

    So using your example it's Z:\ISO\game.iso

    Dunno about softmod loaders

    Note: If you use FAT32 for anything there's a 4GB file size limit........so you can't actually place clean full image dumps of DVD5 and DVD9 Wii games on FAT32.

    This should be something really easy, try some other image.

    You can also use USB loader GX, format your drive to NTFS, and put ISO files on it and run them from USB loader.

    I'm afraid I can't help you any further as I don't have any ISO to test. WBFS seems to be really easy to use, maybe you have an old version? Maybe there's something wrong with your computer?

    I tried 6 different .ISO images, every format, and every USB loader.

    is it just the case of me needing to have my USB root like->

    USB:\usb-loader\game.iso?
    i know i saw that somewhere, but im not sure where

    You need to make a folder called WBFS and convert the isos in wbfs format and in that folder. dont put it in a folder called loader or anything just a folder called WBFS in the root of your drive.

    OR

    Easyest way if you just wanna play wii games.

    Format a hdd or usb drive using wii backup manager then just transfer the isos to the drive using WII BACKUP MANAGER. not shitty wbfs manger.

    Sure you cant put anything but wii games on the drive but hey its quickest and easiest

    A softmod works fine - my black Wii can play GC games btw; it depends on the bundle.

    Are you sure your harddrive is compatible and that you're using the wiibackupmanager correctly?
    A softmod is fine - I personally don't think you need WODE.

    Btw, putting that image there just isn't enough, the 'disk' has to be updated as well - which is again handled by wiibackupmanager.
    Choose your hard/pendrive as a drive, choose the iso and then transfer to drive. Magic done.

    I got an error "Exception (DSI?) Occurred? its hard to read--im using an old TV [also it said that IOS loading was blocked?--what do I do now?

    i was using cfg USB loader btw--and with USB loader GX--it hangs at a black screen after i load the game
    ===
    it says loading wii game, but thats not right--its a GC game...what IOS should I be using?
    ===
    [http://code.google.com/p/cfg-loader/] does say plays wii backups...shouldn't it work for GC games?
    ===
    is [http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/gamecube] the only way to get GC backups to play?
    ===
    but [http://www.wiihacks.com/general-home...b-loader.html] just says 'no'

    Unfortunately, you can't use an hdd for GC games. There's a new method for loading it off an SD card though - Called DML - Dios Mios Lite.

    /guide for installation & use? found it in readme--nevermind
    ===
    just wondering--if most USB loaders dont load GC games, why do they list them as games you can play in the menu? [is it something that may become supported in the future?]
    ===
    I tried loading SSBB and got this-> using cfg usb loader

    Super Smash Bros. Brawl
    [RSBP01] 7.93GB (dual-layer)IOS36

    [+] Booting Wii game, please wait...

    IOS(248)
    IOS Reload: Blocked
    ERROR: setting up fragments 0 1
    ID mismatch: [RSBP01] [RSBE01]

    where did I go wrong? [the maybe the 0 should be a O?]

    wiiflow can partially load it WiiFlow plays SSBB just fine--whats wrong with cfg usbloader?
    ===
    the wii is kind of a let down--most of the games look, sound, and play better via dolphin...[wii plays ssbb slow [fps] compaired to pc]

    Cfg loader doesn't support DML yet. As it says, it tries to load a wii game, but fails in the process, because it's a gc game.
    I suppose you load it off your sd card right now? It might be too slow, so the hardware can't process it properly; you might want a class 10 card. Also, DML is relatively new, so speed might be improved over time.
    ------
    My bad, Brawl is a Wii game. First, it looks like you have an id mismatch; rsbp is pal and rsbe is ntsc; maybe something got messed up in your iso?
    Also, I don't really know which IOS Brawl uses, but my games usually load with ios 249 - maybe you should update your wii via modmii.

    eh--modmii pretty much just does what i already did--extra files are extra | i got it to work in wiiflow, but not cfg usbloader, and as long as it works i guess i dont mind which loader i use--i could emulate the games[60FPS+], but its more fun to play it on a system that runs barely adequately for its own software

    also its a NTSC game--i tried all 3 variations--cfg usb loader just hates the game...or maybe me [but thats what wiiflow is for]
