Alright, so we had this thread last year, and the year before that IIRC. And since there isn't too much happening in General Gaming these days, creating a thread like this isn't going to make it any worse.

Here's the important part, though: The point of this thread is just to look at all the stuff we've played over the year and reminisce a bit. That's it. No flame wars. Thanks.

The only other thing I'd like to point out is that this isn't limited to games released this year. It just has to be a game you played this year. It can be FF10 or Duck Hunt or whatever. It doesn't matter.

Not sure what the point of that would be. As I've said above, this isn't limited to games released in 2011. I'm guessing we didn't all play the same games (although there'd be overlaps obviously, bigger releases like Skyrim and such) so there'd be a million things to vote for.

Well, I had stopped playing games altogether for some time, and I've recently started again. With BS Zelda. That's practically the only game I've played this year, and that was last month, so my list looks kinda dull. But my game is better than your game anyways.

The best games you've played this year? - Probably 9 Persona, 9 Hours, 9 Doors. Really loved the story and the puzzles were very clever without being too difficult. I also really enjoyed SMT: Strange Journey, although I'm not too far yet. Difficulty is hard but not frustrating.

Your overall game of the year? - Probably 999.

Your most beloved franchise(s) this year? - Sonic. All years. I fucking love Sonic.

Your most beloved gaming company/companies this year? - Valve, fantastic deals on Steam. I really love how much they give back.

Biggest surprise of the year? - 999. I bought it on a whim, blew me away.

Biggest disappointment of the year? - Wasn't really disappointed.

Most memorable VG character of the year? - Santa from 999. I loved his final line, made me crack up. "After all, I'm Santa Claus."

The game you sank the most hours into this year? - Easily Tekken 5, been getting back into it and it's pretty addictive.

Capcom in general. Canceling MML3 & MML3:P. Then we have UMvC3, less than a year and they make a new version, the new DMC looks gay, ect, ect.

The best games you've played this year? Disgaea 4, Skyrim, Fist of the North Star Ken's Rage, Valkyria Chronicles, Folklore, Uncharted, Uncharted 2 and to a lesser extent Resonance of Fate and Uncharted 3.

Your most beloved franchise(s) this year? Agarest War, I'm pretty much a total junkie for games where you have to grind, play multiple times and work with items. While these are probably not great games overall and definitely are not for everyone they definitely stand out for me in this category.

Biggest surprise of the year? Fist of the North Star Ken's Rage MANLINESS LEVELS OFF THE CHARTS
Biggest disappointment of the year? I rarely play games that will disappoint me but on a whole I'd have to say Demon's Souls which is still a good game.
Most memorable VG character of the year? Pretty much everyone in Valkyria Chronicles, I really got into that. If I had to pick one character I'd have to go with Welkin. Such inner strength!

The best games you've played this year? WoW, Skyrim, Dragon Age: Origins, Borderlands, Dead Island, ME2, Fallout 3/NV, Co Black Ops.

Your overall game of the year? Dragon Age: Origins. Had an absolute blast with this one from beginning to end.

Your most beloved franchise(s) this year? Elder Scrolls. I played III, IV, and V this year. Fallout would be a close second.
