    Default Final Fantasy IX issues.

Hello all! I have some problems with Final Fantasy IX.

At first, when starting the game, everything is perfectly fine. I can see the opening, the game selection screen and when I start a new game, the CG intro works perfectly fine. Then it gets to the point where Zidane is in the boat and he walks into the room where it's no longer CG and everything is suddenly really slow. I tried using ePSXe 1.7. and 1.5.2. changing around all the settings but to no avail.

I don't think the problem is with my computer because it played FFVIII fine and Crash Bandicoot played fine, too. Why is this one not working?

The only FPS setting I have selected is the FPS Limiting one. That's all.

The FPS at that particular spot is sparattic. It goes from 60 to 14 to 30... It's obnoxious.

Do you have a multi-core computer? If so, you may want to try grabbing this and running it. (I know it says "For XP," and it's not supposed to be an issue with ePSXe 1.7 either, but there are/I've seen rare cases that it is, so it wouldn't hurt to try everything )

this has worked for me in your video plug-in take the graphics vram option off of auto and set it to 512 I don't know why be the auto detect settings in epsxe is notoriously bad with some games i.e. final fantasy 8 & 9 also make sure frame limiting is on and set to 50 for PAL or 60 for NTSC games as the above fix will make it run to fast without the limiting let us know if it works.

also to avoid a freezing issue later in the game run it on epsxe 1.5.2 make sure you have game fixes enabled and the ones ticked that say they are needed for ff9 and epsxe 1.5.2

I always run it in Windowed mode. It shows around 60 while the CG cutscenes go, but then when it gets to the part that isn't CG, it's about 10-30... and REALLY choppy.

Disable 'Use FPS Limit', with Autodetect and run the game again.
Also, try using either Nice/Fast settings as well.

EDIT: Nevermind. It's working on the ship, but then the first transition into battle is like 1 frame per second...

ok have you actually tried my idea yet which is taking the Gfx card vram off of auto and setting it to it's highest setting which should be 512 MBytes if not try it I know it has worked for me and several others I'm being insistent because I know with 150% accuracy that it works.

also you can keep all your other settings except tick the circle beside fps limit and put 60 in the box instead of 200.0

Also it would help to know what your graphics card is I'm assuming it's a older card seeing as you are using DX6D3D plug-in

Did it. It didn't completely fix the problem so I messed around with other Gfx related stuff.

I'm not sure if this is right but I think it's called: Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1800 (Model 78xxx, Combo ATSC/QAM)

that's I believe a tv tuner card go to your start menu in the search bar type dxdiag run the program go to the second tab at the top display under name will be your video card. if your card is good enough to run pete's opengl driver2.9 thats what I recommend since in it you can take the option I suggested previously to 512 instead of 128, but older graphics cards cant run opengl2 due to shader issues.

The Video plug-in doesn't give me the option of using 512 in the drop down menu. I know I can just enter it in but I feel like there's a good reason as to why it's not an option like it might blow up the computer or something...?
