    Default Best PC controller

I'm going to download some fighting game roms and was wondering what the best controller is. Right now, I may just buy a Playstation 3 controller and use a hacked program to change it to work on the PC. However, I'm open to other suggestions.

    Thanks for reading!

Wired 360 controller, sturdy and solid. Bought a pc controller for like £20 a few months ago and buttons already fooked. Go get a good 360 controller or just keep using your ps3 one if it works why change? x

Ya Fairly much what Darkliny said.

360 Controllers (Wired or Wireless and Receiver - which is what i use) Seem to do the trick great and a lot of newer software have pre set configs for 360 controllers too

Although if your going to just play fighting games then you may want to invest in a quality arcade stick

Tell me about it... Trying to Fight King0427 here on the forum on Samurai Showdown V Special with a 360 controller was a recipe for disaster

I use a PS2 pad with a USB adapter. I think its way better than the 360 controller, also the quality is superior to a 360 controller. I have been using this same PS2 pad and USB adapter going on 4 years, and it holds up very well. I prefer a keyboard for real PC games, but use my PS2 pad for emulation. I paid around $10 after shipping for my USB adapter. PS2 pad + USB adapter is cheaper than a PS3 controller, or 360 controller.

I used to play on GGPO with my PS2 pad and I got demolished, but it wasn't because of my pad. If you plan on getting serious into fighting games, you are better off investing in a good stick, and make sure your display has very low input lag, 2ms or less.

Do you have vibrations in pad with this combo? I heard that USB voltage is too low to make Dual Shock rumble work.

No, but I never cared for the rumble feature anyway. I always had it turned off.

I have this same converter, but no rumble cuz I only have the non DualShock PSX controller.
    Works great too.

Razer makes a 360 gamepad that is amazing:

It's wired, and actually cheaper than the MS controller. Definitely take a look at it though

When my Wireless bites the dust or I stop procrastinating I might get one of those

I'm not that serious so I might go the cheap route and get some PS2 controllers with usb converter.

What's the difference between ps2 and ps3 controllers? Are they the same or does the ps3 have new features that the ps2 lacks?

The ps3 controller requires special software to work on the PC. Does the ps2 controller require the same?

    Thanks everyone!

If you're not that serious about it, just get a cheap pad like the Logitech Dual Action or something. It has the same number of buttons as a PS2 controller, sans the rumble, and it's only $13. I have two of them and my only real complaint is that the analog sticks have a square recession, so it doesn't work as well for "rotate the analog stick" stuff.

If it is for a emulator, I like buying the adapters and the original controller for the similar experience of playing original system. But the xbox360 controller is nice too and all the new modern pc games are designed to support it.
