    You don't download the language per se but the tools to compile and make use of it.

    Here is an IDE and compiler suite already bundled for you:

    If you want to do anything other than just ol' C then it will be slightly more complicated to setup but not much. For now though that should work out for you just nicely as it has for me.

    Your mileage will vary if you go the learn C from the internet without investing in books.

    Notepad++ is also a very handy, free application to have on hand.

    c language is like all languages, a standard text file filled with the programmer's code. If you want to compile/interpret the code, you need to find the right software. If your on linux use "gcc", on windows it is a bit harder depending on what software you want to use (google it).
