Default [GUIDE][GENESIS/32X/CD/GAMEGEAR] KEGA Fusion 3.94 Guide (With semi-plug & play pack)

KEGA Fusion is an emulator that is able to emulate games from the Genesis/Mega Drive, 32X, CD and Master System/Game Gear (A Game Gear was just the pocket Master System). This guide is to help setup the emulator, but due to the amount of BIOs images needed for the emulator, I have already uploaded a version with most of the core elements setup to play. I have only set up what is NEEDED to run the emulator at bare bones, but not other things that you may want to change (resolution, sound etc).

    Getting Started

First, download the Fusion pack from here:

As always, make sure that you have the latest DirectX runtime and drivers for you video card:

Now since the BIOs images have been setup, there is no need to go into the settings, but to make sure that everything is what it seems, go to Options > Set Config and make sure that the BIOs options look exactly what they do in this screenshot.

If all looks fine, move on.

With most of the emulator setup to work, it is time to setup the controls. Go to Set Config and click the Controller tab. If you are using an Xbox 360 Controller, you can skip setting up the buttons. If you are not, select your device next to the Define button in the box, once you have completed this, click the Define button, this will bring up instructions near the bottom of the window which will request the keys you want to define the buttons to.

If you want to setup controller two, follow the same instructions for Port2.

Next is to look at the Sound settings. Nothing really needs to be changed here, but make sure the settings look like this:

Overdrive is known to cause problems with SOME CD games, so try turning it off if you have sound problems.

Lastly it is time to look at the Video settings. Like for the other settings; I have already done most of the work, but some things can be changed to your liking here. If you have a fast enough PC, you can change the Fullscreen and Window Size resolutions to higher settings. For Fullscreen, it is currently set at 1920x1080 which is a very high resolution, so if you think your PC can't handle it, change the resolution as you see fit (but it doesn't hurt to try. ). Under "Render Plugin" in Video, it is also set to filter the picture quite heavily, which can severely cut performance. You can either choose a lower Filter setting (Double), or switch off filtering altogether (Choose the "Filtered" option in Video or press ALT-0). For Fullscreen, click the Fullscreen option or press ALT-Enter.

If you still have a few speed issues with the emulator, try disabling Vsync. This will cause it to be not as smooth, but can speed up the emulator.

    Your emulator is now ready!

    Loading a ROM or ISO

All you have to do to load a game is to go to File > Load Genesis/32X/MasterSystem/SegaCD ROM/Image and you are ready to go!

    Recommended Games

With consoles such as the 32X and SegaCD, there are a few hidden gems which never got a chance to shine, including a few hacks. Here is a little list of game that you may want to check out (click the names to go to the EmuParadise download links):

Snatcher (SegaCD - Spawned Metal Gears)
Knuckles Chaotix (32X - Sonic game featuring Knuckles as the main character)
Sonic CD (SegaCD - Known as a cult classic in the Sonic series)
Sonic Megamix (SegaCD - A complete Sonic "hack" using the Sonic CD engine):

If you think other titles should be added to this list, just let me know and I'll add it.

That's it, if you have any questions or problems just leave a post.
    Enjoy and happy gaming!
