Default Which ps2 emulator is best to download?

So yeah i just finished final fantasy 9, and im thinking of moving on to FF10 on the ps2.

So ive looked at the emulators available and the PCSX2 seems like a reliable emulator. However looking on the website theres a stable version (0.9.8 i think) and some newer version (SPU2-X 2.0). No clue which one to download....so help?

Take a look at the PCSX2 compatibility list and choose the release that will run the version of FFX you're looking to play. If that doesn't work, you can always play around with multiple versions, to find which one works best for you. Be aware, however, that PS2 emulation requires far more resources to run than PSX emulation.

Both are the same, however, it is recommended to use the stable release first, which is 0.9.8, before using the any latest SVN.

Only use SVN when you having problem to run certain game, and make sure your computer is good enough to run the emulator as well.

Oh, SPU2-X is one of the sound plugin for PCSX2, it is not an emulator.

Lol a sound plugin...i feel dumb hehe

    Operating System - Windows 7 64 bit
    Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 740 @1.73GHz(8CPUs)
    Memory - 8GB RAM
Graphics Card - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650

Thats my specs, i ran the espxe and FF7-9 no problems. No idea how ill do with ps2 though, specially with the FFX game.

Yeah thnx meganova, ill probably download the 9.8 version and try use that.

Theres also one thing i need to ask - any reliable links where i can get a BIOS file for ps2? Emphasis on the word "Reliable" cause some dude on the chat sent me a link to a BIOS file that needed a password to extract. He gave me a password, but when i extracted the zip file, nothin appeared, even though there were actually files being extracted.

    Laptop?

That's a quite low CPU you have, you may be able to run most games but major slowdown will certainly happen.(yeah, FFX)

Does your CPU has Turbo Boost?

For the BIOS, get one from here.

After some quick search, it seems your CPU does have Turbo Boost, which can give you up to 2.40GHz,
however even with that, slowdown may still happen occasionally(your GPU is another factor), try using Speedhacks if you experienced any.
