Whether it's Command and Conquer, Dragonshard, Kohan, Starcraft, Total Annihilation, or some other RTS, talk about it here.

No, it operates on a mass/energy system.
Mass constantly recharges to a limit depending on storage, and enrgy is used for building units and buildings.

Kingdoms uses a similar system. You have mana, which has a max and a recharge rate. The charge rate and size of the pool increase with the number of lodestones.

Not surprised, as it is a sequel to TA, but in a medieval setting, so it makes sense that they would have the same system.

Indeed. Kohan has a production system, gold is the only resource you store. You gain X resource for building certain substructures in your city. Each component has different upgrades that give benefits or an extra resource boost. There are no individual units or air/water units, you create companies. I'd need to blabber for a while to properly explain how the system works, playing it would be easier .

Emperor: Battle for Dune was one of the last RTS's I played, it was also one of my favorites.

That being said, it's been YEARS since I've played an RTS, what should I be playing, lay it on me.

I really like RTS games. It's like an rpg where the player character is god

Think my first one was Stronghold for Dos.

I sorta lump simcity games in this category as well. Even though there's no real enemy. It's still building and managing resources etc. It's still strategic to my mind.

Played around a dozen or so. Really liked the Starwars ones too.
