The bios needs to be named dc_bios.bin and it needs to be in Chankast's root directory.

What does it do when you try to configure the controls?

    "Configuring controls in Chankast"

    -Go to Plugins/Configure...

-Pick the input plugin you want, I picked the Input Interface by Elsemi.

-Click OK, it might tell you to restart for changes to take affect. Close Chankast
    and re-open it.

    -Go to Options/Configure Controls

-A window should pop up that looks like this.

-Just click on the designated boxes and choose the button configuration you want and then click SAVE. You should be done and ready to play.

    Strange, I don't know what's up then.

From what I read you should probably go with a different emulator anyway. Chankast is old and out of date. I would probably use nullDC, it seems to be one of the most compatible DC emulators out there.

Personally I don't emulate the DC myself, I use an actual DC. They're pretty cheap used around these parts.

So cheap I have gone through 5 (No I had not broken 4 I gave 3 away, 1 was miss used and had plastic broke off in a pad socket) anyway I very much double that go for NullDC instead or buy yourself a Dreamcast to play your Dreamcast games perfectly (for the best display for the Dreamcast you can get vga adaptors for em or wire your own up)

How about wiring an HDMI port up to a real DC?

The Dreamcast does not have the correct signals native
