A big pet peeve for me are people who can't stop talking about themselves. Even when you try to share something, it always goes back to them.

Unfortunately, I'm one of those people sometimes.
Mostly I do it because it's the only way I feel like I can show that I relate, or have anything relevant to say.
Like, I don't go off on stories, or anything, I just try and say something that shows that I'm listening or that I understand.
And this post is HIGHLY ironic.
Anyway, what you describe is basically the desire for people to talk about you or what you're going through, which I suppose everybody wants, which is why they talk about themselves. Or maybe it's the only thing they feel sure they're right about when they talk.

I know, right? I mean this one time I was talking to someone about that, and they said that they had a puppy, so I obviously told them that I wanted the puppy and they were all, "Well it's my puppy" and I was all, "Well where did you get it?" and they were all, "Shelter" and I was all like, "Oh". And now I have a thirsty horse.
