Call me crazy, but I always thought Super Mario Bros. 2 deserved a more direct sequel.

That is, another game set in that dream world. Like maybe a new villain puts the whole world to sleep and they all live in the same dream so they have to work together to find a way to break out.

It could be something as simple as the villain being a tiny, weak man who wants to rule the world, so he puts everyone (including himself) to sleep, because in a dream he can be as big and strong as he wants. And since everybody's in his dream, he makes all of the rules.

Uh... So? I knew that, it was doki doki clone but I really don't see why they couldn't just make a new game based on the same dream concept. I'm not saying they should make a game called Super Mario Bros 2: 2, I'm just saying it deserves a sequel. At least a spiritual sequel. Also...
