Are you sad Activision is killing Guitar hero & Tony Hawk? Well, guess what they did for you! They bought an IP for you.

    Spoiler warning:

Taking a page out of Nintendo's Pokémon playbook, Skylanders endows Spyro and each of the other 31 characters with different abilities and powers
but why you ask? here is why:

Activision is targeting ages 6 to 12 with a line of action figures starring more than 30 characters from the game. When the game is running, players can put an action figure on a plastic "portal" or stand and watch the toys appear on their TV, and the toy becomes a moving character in the game for the player to control.....
.....Pricing for individual toys has not been set, but a $70 starter pack will include the video game, three toys, portal and trading cards

we knew you well old friend...

Not surprising really, Tony Hawk was in the tank, and Guitar Hero was coming down in sales.

Activision had to do something so that they could start making tons of money.

    Oh wait...

actually activision stopped making guitar hero after warriors of rock, fired everyone at redoctane, and rockband is done too, as harmonix has over a million dollasrs in debt so they sold it.
I can't believe I got the admins to give me a Sesame Street username.

Everyone knows saturating the market with release after release that are basically the same thing is going to end up bringing down the sales.

What are they at for Tony Hawk? Like 12? I guess you would include Underground, Ride, etc.

In the 3 years Activision had Guitar Hero, they made NINE games (GHII on 360 was published by Activision, despite being an enhanced remake). That's ridiculous. Talk about milking a series to the bone.

Oh, I just checked, they made 15 Tony Hawk games.

Only complete retards would use 'pay-for-play' for a simple online game. This isn't WoW.

And that article sounds more like 'pay monthly for VIP treatment and DLC', not basic functionality of online.

But I have no idea beyond that article, nor do I care. CoD is just awful.

No. However, the quotes from Activision do seem to point towards that.

Even so, they aren't talking about Call of Duty.

They are talking about "Project Beachhead".

But, really, if Project Beachhead was similar to EVE, in that it's a standalone game that gets updates as it goes, and you pay a monthly fee, then i really wouldn't have a problem with it.

It's like an MMO really, low initial cost, high cost over time, but the game has a bunch of updates.

Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage is in my top ten games of all time. The guys over at insomniac must be hating every second of this.
