jade empire on 360 slim

why wont this work on 360 slim ?

bought used but disc has no scratches.
i have a 250gb aftermarket hd.
i'm connected to live.
i have even set the display to various settings 480p -1080p .

it just says "the game couldn't start. try downloading the game again."

please help ..i'm dying to play this

Is your 360 connected to Xbox Live? You need to download the backwards compatibility data from Live to be able to play Xbox original games on the 360...

and the slims also require a hard drive to play original xbox games (not that theres more than 50 worth playing)

I doubt it's anything to do with the fact it's a 360 slim.

Built yourself, or bought? Because I believe you need some files on a hidden second partition, or else backwards compatibility is borked. Or at least that's what I gathered from the guides I saw when I made mine, they made me jump through some steps to avoid problems that sound like this
