Default [MULTI][ROM SET] No-Intro Collection (Complete ROM Sets)

    What are No-Intro sets?
No-Intro is a group dedicated to collecting ROMs of older video game systems for the sake of preservation. Their main goal is to collect complete and accurate collections of old video games. This means no hacks, bad dumps, etc, only clean ROM files accurate to what was commercially released. The name "No-Intro" came from the early days when they used to rip out annoying "scene" intros that were sometimes injected into dumped games. If you want more information you can visit the No-Intro website.

    Difference between No-Intro and Goodsets
The most common complete ROM sets you will encounter on the internet are known as "GoodSets". While these aren't bad, they have a slightly different goal and are usually several years outdated. Goodsets basically collect together as many known dumps as possible into one set. The good, the bad, hacks, multiple dumps, all there. No-Intro sets only include one good ROM for each region or revision of a game (usually one US, one Europe, and one Japan). In addition, No-Intro sets are updated frequently as new or more accurate ROMs are found. Basically what you get in a No-Intro set is equivalent to what was on the original cartridges.

    How are these sets organized?
Most of these sets consist of an archived folder which contains a bunch of individually zipped ROM files. This saves space, but allows most emulators to still be able to open them directly. Torrent7z and TorrentZip or used for compression and consistency.
The only sets not zipped are the following:

    7zipped:
    GamePark - GP32
    Nokia - N-Gage
    Tiger - Gizmondo

    7zipped and merged:
    Nintendo - Nintendo 64
    Nintendo - Game Boy Advance

Because the N64 and GBA sets are so huge, they are merged to drastically reduce size and download times. This means ROMs of the same game but different regions (US,Europe,Japan, Etc) are archived together allowing the data they share to be compressed even more. You may want to extract the games you want to play since most emulators can't read the 7zip format directly.

How do I extract these files?
7-Zip can extract the main files you download below. That can be found here. Some big sets are split into parts, in which case you will need to extract all of them. Besides that, you shouldn't need to extract anything else unless you get one of the 7zipped sets mentioned above.

What are the numbers next to each set?
After the Name of the set there are parentheses and numbers. This is the date when the set was last updated in Year-Month-Day format. For example a set with (20101126) was last updated on November 26th, 2010.

    Want to download several links?
If you have your eye on a bunch of stuff, it might take a while to download everything manually. JDownloader may help you out. Just download it and copy all the links and it will take care of the rest!

    No Physical Support Roms
No Physical Support ROMs are files that were not released on a physical cartridge for the original system. These are often from re-releases on disc compilations (such as classic compilations on the GameCube) or from the digital WiiWare service. They work on emulators like the original games do, but are not considered true ROMs by some due to their modifications and not originating from a cartridge intended for the original system. Nonetheless, they may be useful for some such as the Sonic & Knuckles lock-on MegaDrive games (which technically should not be one ROM file as there are two different cartridges involved).

Nice thread. I do think to maintain it properly though there should be update packs as nobody wants to download a full set again just to update their full romset and the updates should be written in text as well so we know what we are getting in the update patch.

As I said, great topic but it always gets confusing for me when a new update comes out and I don't know if it's worth it or if it's just a sub version which I don't care about if it's the same except the region.

None of these consoles have had games released for them in many years.

7/01/2011 is the current Megadrive set so that isn't really true as they are updating the MD regularly. Stuff like that need micro updates and maybe a bit of text to see if it's worth peoples time downloading the update.

TEOL is spot on. The GBA DAT was updated today (Feb. 08, 2011), and the NES DAT was updated on the 6th. The update for the GBA and NES were minor ones (GBA - three re-dumps; NES - a clone field modification) and wouldn't require an update here. I've completed all of these sets except for FDS, and I know what it's like to have to download a bunch of archives just to find out that what you need isn't there. Thankfully with the GBA, N64, and SNES sets here, you only need to download the parts that contain the roms you need, but it's nigh impossible to know which ones contain what since they're not labeled.

This thread is awesome, and I'm very thankful to Cyber Puppet for sharing these sets with the community, but proper updates would make this thread even better. Not to mention, update packs don't take as long to create or download.

    ! this is a treasure thanks !
Is there all roms language version in those fullsets ?
Yes, these sets include ROMs for each region a game was released in as well as any revisions the game might have had during it's lifecycle. I've updated the post description to make this more clear

You are absolutely correct, these systems have been inactive for many years. However, occasionally a more accurate dump of a ROM might be made or a rare game or prototype cartridge will be found and then added to the collection.

Thank you. I don't have any updates right now since I was more focused on getting the links back up, and I wasn't sure what was missing since the forum crash. What I did do for updates in the past was take all the updates, for say a period of a couple weeks, and put them all into one pack. That way anyone looking to update could get all the additions in one quick link. I may continue something similar to that in the future.

Thats cool too. But what if someone just wants the update packs for SNES or Genesis because they have multicarts to play roms on their real SNES or Genesis? Thats my gripe with multi console update within the same zip because some people may have both carts like myself but their are also people with only a SEGA or a SNES.

I know to play a SEGA game I need a converter to convert them to .bin for use on my Everdrive. I'm not sure about SNES though, do you need to convert them or are they alright for the Powerpak or Everdrive already and just need to rename to .smc? Is a .sfc or whatever the No-Intro set use the same as an .smc?

One suggestion for the main site would be to include these on the full set page. We have Goodsets already. I can't see why except from possible resources reasons that we can't include the No-Intro, Tosec & NonGood sets as well. They are all good and all have their own unique missing and have dumps.

No-Intro would be the major big set to add to the main site though as we already have them added to the site under single file.

The good sets are incomplete as my sig shows. If they were complete here, then they wouldn't be listed in my sig. I mean if you think you have the roms I'm missing, then by all means correct me and help the community.

I was wondering if like on the old thread b4 the crash you could list the games individually so we don't have to download a whole set to get a few games... Still fantastic job
