Note:- all file names that are renamed are case sensitive.
Note:- SCPH-9000x series PS2's are not compatable

Download you region zip file

PAL-E files
NTSC-U files
NTSC-J files

I already pre prepped the files this time so just extract the file you need to a USB stick/other usb storage (make sure full path is enabled when you extract)

1. Create a folder for the files (name it whatever you want) on your PC
2. Download all the needed files to that folder (list in spoiler)

   • ESR
   • FREE_MCBOOT
   • uLaunch
   • BxEXEC-DVDPLAYER
3. Create a folder inside that folder called PS2 ready
4. Extract FREE MC BOOT directly to the [PS2 ready] folder
5. Extract the ESR zip
6. Copy the ESR dvdv direct elf to the [INSTALL] folder in the [PS2 ready] folder then rename it to BOOT.ELF
7. Extract the uLaunchELF zip and go into the new [uLE] folder
8. Rename the BOOT.ELF to ULAUNCH.ELF
9. Copy ULAUNCH.ELF and LAUNCHELF.CNF to the [PS2 ready] folder
10. make another copy of ULAUNCH.ELF and LAUNCHELF.CNF to the [APPS] folder within the [INSTALL] folder
11. make another copy of BOOT.ELF from the [INTSTALL] folder to the [APPS] folder renamed ESR.ELF
12. make a copy of ESR's dvdv direct off.elf also to the [APPS] folder (shorten the name if you like mine was named ESROFF.ELF)
13. Extract the BxEXEC-DVDPLAYER zip to the PS2 ready folder
14. Find out what region your DVD Driver is, to do this start your PS2 normally with no disc in the drive
15. Once your PS2 is fully booted press triangle
16. Listed there are versions of drivers (example in spoiler)

17. Take note of the x for the DVD Player (x = the only leter in the version information for DVD Player)
18. You can turn the PS2 back off for now..
19. Extract the DVDPLx zip file and go into the new DVDPLx folder
20. Find the correct DVDPLx file for your DVD Player, rename the correct DVDPLx file to DVDELF.bin (x = the leter in the DVD Palyer version)
21. Copy the DVDELF.bin to the [INJECT] folder thats in the [INSTALL] folder that is in the [PS2 ready] folder
22. This should be all the files ready (ulaunch files may get copied & renamed again depending on method used)
23. The spoiler shows what you should have in the PS2 ready folder root

24. Now all you need now is a method of running uLaunch

Over the years there have been many methods of doing this, I will outline these here

• Mod chip that can boot elf files from USB
  Spoiler warning:

  • copy everything in the PS2 ready folder to a USB memstick
  • insert this into your PS2 and launch the elf file ULAUNCH
• Mod chip that can only boot CD-R's & DVD+/-R's
  Spoiler warning:

  • copy everything in the PS2 ready folder to a USB memstick
  • insert this into your PS2
  • Burn the uLaunch CD or DVD
  • Insert and boot up the uLaunch CD or DVD
• Swapmagic
  Spoiler warning:

  • copy everything in the PS2 ready folder to a USB memstick
  • On the USB memstick create a folder called SWAPMAGIC
  • Make a copy of ULAUNCH.ELF and LAUNCHELF.CNF in the folder SWAPMAGIC
  • In the folder SWAPMAGIC rename ULAUNCH.ELF to SWAPMAGIC.ELF
  • Insert the UBS Memstick into your PS2 and boot your SwapMagic CD or DVD to run uLaunch
• Action Replay 2 v2 (Game Shark 2 v2) Cog Swop, Flip Lid or other PS2 CD swapping method
  Spoiler warning:

  • copy everything in the PS2 ready folder to a USB memstick
  • insert the USB memstick into your PS2
  • Burn the uLaunch CD
  • Boot up Action Replay 2 v2 wait for disc to stop, cog swop, fliptop or other method
  • Insert newly burned CD and select start game without cheats
  • this will now run uLaunch

Now that you can run uLaunch you can get on with installing MC_BOOT and ESR to your PS2 memory card, make sure you only have one memory card inserted

1.Run uLaunch with whatever method you use and press O once uLaunch loads
2.Press down on the D-Pad till mass:/ is highlighted in red and press O
3.Press down on the D-Pad till FREE_MCBOOT.ELF is highlighted in red and press O
4.MC_BOOT loads for the first time
5.Make sure Normal Install is highlighted and hit X on your pad (Multi-Version=works on all PS2's in the region your PS2 is made)
6.Wait for the install to complete
7.Now reset the PS2 and start uLaunch again
8.Press O, this time Press O again to go into mc0:/
9.Press down till you get to B?EXEC-SYSTEM is highlighted red and press O (? depends on the region of your system)
10.Press down to highlight in red osdmain.elf press R1 and highlight copy and press O
11.Press Triangle twice press down till mass:/ is highlighted press O
12.Press down so the BxEXEC-DVDPLAYER is highlighted in red, press O
13.Press down so ../ is not highlighted then press R1 and highlight paste and press O
14.Press Triangle twice
15.Remove the USB memstick from the PS2 and put it in your PC
16.Rename the BxEXEC-DVDPLAYER folder in the PS2 Ready folder to replace the x with the leter that is used in B?EXEC-SYSTEM
17.Open the BxEXEC-DVDPLAYER folder and rename osdmain.elf to dvdplayer.elf
18.Put the USB Memstick back into the PS2
19.Press down so mass:/ is highlighted and press O
20.Press down till BxEXEC-DVDPLAYER is highlighted Press R1 and press O (to copy)
21.Press Triangle
22.Press up till mc0:/ is highlighted and press O
23.Press down so ../ is not highlighted and press R1, highlight paste and press O
24.Press up or down till you highlight BxEXEC-SYSTEM and press R1, now highlight delete and press O and press O again to say OK
25.Now you can reset your console with ESR and MC_BOOT installed

Advanced settings
1.Boot uLaunch for the last time and run FREE_MCBOOT.ELF again
2.This time choose fmcb configurator
3.I like X as my layout the choice is yours though (press whatever your used to)
4.This should auto load the config from mc0:/SYS-CONF/FREEMCB.CNF, if not do select Load CNF from MC0
5.Go down and select Configure E1 launch keys....
6.press down till you get to the triggers L1 L2 R1 R2 ect and set ESR, ESRoff & uLaunch to some triggers all these are stored on mc0:/APPS/
7.You might also want FMCB_CFG.ELF set to one of these aswell that is stored in mc0:/SYS-CONF/
8.select return
9.Select Save CNF to MC0
10.Select PS2 Browser (FMCB Restart)

Now when you boot your PS2 and you see the MC BOOT logo press and hold one of the set up triggers to load each program you set up (ESR should auotload anyay though when you have an ESR disc inserted)

More Advanced settings (Just info)
•Configure OSDSYS options... (this is what is shown after a normal boot on your PS2 so you can customise your bios menu aswell as speed things up)
•Configure ESR path... (I personly did not need to touch this but make sure the path is for ESR.ELF anyway)
•.
•FastBoot: (ON= Fast boot a disc if one is inserted)
•Debug Screen: (ON= Green Screen if ELF is not found)
•Pad Delay: (not touched this)

ESR Patching, Burning & Media Guides

• CD media games, converted to DVD5 Media

• DVD5 media games (Create, Patch & Burn)

  Make an ISO from your DVD5 game with IMGBurn

  Spoiler warning:

  • Extract and install IMGBurn (If you don't have it)
  • Insert your DVD5 game you wish to copy
  • Run IMGBurn and select "Create Image from disc"
  • Hit the little icon that looks like a folder with a spy glass
  • Choose the destination for the new iso file to go
  • Now hit the huge icon that looks like a big CD + a play symbol to the right and a page with a picture of CD on it to very right
  • Now you have an ISO of your DVD5 Game but now it needs patching

  
  Patching your ISO with ESR boot code
  

  Spoiler warning:

  • Extract ESR_disc_patcher_GUI (If you have not already)
  • run ESR disc patcher
  • Hit Patch and select the ISO file

  
  Burn your ISO with IMGBurn

  • Extract and Install IMGBurn (If you have not already)
  • Run IMGBurn & select "Write image file to disc"
  • Insert blank DVD5 into your burning DVD drive
  • Select the little icon that looks like a folder with a spy glass on it
  • Select the DVD5 iso then hit OK
  • Now hit the huge icon that looks like a page with a picture of CD on it + a play symbol to the right and a big CD to very right
  • Well done you have just burned an ESR disc
• DVD9 media games, (Create, Patch & Burn)

  • Insert your DVD9 game you wish to copy
  • Run IMGBurn
  • select "Create Image from disc"

  • now hit the huge icon that looks like a big CD + a play symbol to the right and a page with a picture of a CD on it to very right
  • Now you have an ISO of your DVD9 Game though it still needs patching

  • Extract Toxic DL patcher (If you have not already)
  • Run Toxic DL Patcher
  • Hit the ... buton and find your DVD9 iso file and hit Open
  • Hit Go, (the DVD9 still need one more patch to work)
  • Extract ESR_disc_patcher_GUI (If you have not already)
  • Run ESR disc patcher
  • Hit Patch and select the ISO file

  
  Burning your DVD9 games
  

  Spoiler warning:

  • Extract and install IMGBurn (If you have not already)

  • DVD5 Media Verbatim DVD-R or Verbatim DVD+R
  • DVD9 Media Verbatim DVD-R DL or Verbatim DVD+R DL

  
  Also note that not all PS2 lasers handle DVD+-R DL discs very well if at all, often it is beter to look for DVD5 rips
  
  There are some none Verbatim branded media that do work just aswell specially DVD+R media
  Infact most + media will work - media is a littler harder to find quality media that works on the PS2
  Dual/Double Layer media is very hard to find good quality none Verbatm media
  Recomend you just stick to Verbatim DL media for your DVD9 games if you can play from DVD9 backup's at all
  
  If you are thinking of buying a cheaper discs though check out Video Help - DVD Media first and find the DVD's you want to buy there, this will provide you with good information including Console reliability
