Default Best Setting for PS2 Emulator.

Hiya i'm new on the forums and such. Decided to try the PCSX2 emulator. Went to the site got the "beta" PCSX2 0.9.7 running and even some Kingdom Hearts ISO's (1, Rechain, 2 exc.). My question is" When im facing Destiny Islands Directly my fps drops from a 55-60 to a 30-40fps. Don't get me wrong it's still perfectly playable im just wondering if i tweak some settings so i can make the drop a little smoother or make it go away period lol. i see that there are speed hacks within the emulator but i don't want go clicking on things that i'm not fully sure what they do. Any and all help will be appreciated.

Oh and b4 i get lemme post my Comp Specs and some of the settings.

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium
    Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6500 @2.10GHz

I haven't dabbled much in PS2 emulation, but I actually just played KH yesterday and had a constant 60 FPS on every part of Destiny Islands. I'll go ahead and post my settings, maybe it helps. If it doesn't, it might be your PC.

All of this is was on 0.9.7, obviously.

Considering you're using a laptop with no dedicated GPU I'd say you're lucky to even get 30-40 FPS in the more GPU-taxing areas.

My laptop and desktop can only run FFX at 25-30FPS...

Huh, didn't even notice what kind of PC it was. In that case, Inferno's right.

Still, try the settings I've posted, but don't be surprised if there's no improvement.

Since you're Windows Vista, try using DirectX 10 mode on your GSdx plugin.

You may also get slight increase in speed by disabling the 'effects processing' option on SPU2-X, or turning off the Sound.
and read this for some info about the Speedhacks.

That sudden slowdown are normal on PCSX2, and you may also be getting another one at the certain points of the game.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions, tried the settings u provided cleared up some of the drops but still get a big drop in frames when facing the island. Though it did manage to give me a more constant frames of 36-45 when facing the island. im reading the info about speed hacks right now and i suppose i can play without sound seeing as i played the game a bunch of times on my ps2. Thought it would be awesome to play KH on the laptop since it's more portable but ultimately since my laptop doesn't have a dedicated GPU as mention above im SoL on getting the frames to stay in most places in the game. lol might have to hop on my desktop after all tho. But most definitely ty for the info
