Desmume (DS Emulator) and Dual Strike
Huh, EP got a new look...lol. Anyways, felt like playing Dual Strike so I went and searched for an emulator and ROM. Seems like Desmume works fine (v9.4 runs it better anyways), was wondering if there was a way to fix some issues though. First of all, the latest version has the music playing sluggishly during gameplay (on the map when you move units around)...but noticed that it runs fine when battle animations are going on. Another issue is the cursor, explosions, and other small effects...they're not there! It's not that big of a deal, but they're nice effects to see when you destroy something and all that. :p
I've no clue how to work this emulator since the only one I've really messed with was ZSNES...anyways, what are the best settings to use for this emulator? Can you get everything working fin in the latest version? Dual Strike will most likely be the only DS game I'll have on here, so I want to set it up for this game only. Thanks guys.

Those issues only appears on 0.9.6/0.9.5 version, and unfortunately there are no possible fix at the moment, afaik.
the only way to show that cursors, and other effects is to use previous versions, 0.9.4.
Let's just hope the next release will fix this problem.

...How do you make them appear then? I'm currently using 0.9.4...but they're still not there.

Oh my, guess I post something inaccurate there, My apologies.
It won't shows up on 0.9.4 either, or on any version of DeSmuMe right now.
Perhaps the SVN will, but not sure which version.
If you still want to see the cursor, I suggest use No$gba.
EDIT:
btw, try using DeSmuMe r3769, with Depth Comparison Threshold set to 10.

I'm downloading now, will let you know if it works or not...and if not...well like you said guess I'll have to wait...its not like the game isn't completely playable anyways. (gotten used to just using the "touch screen" )
EDIT: It works...but becomes sluggish for whatever reason...guess I can't do anything.
EDIT 2: I'm going to stick with 9.4 for now, was wondering though, where can I find a save file with everything unlocked?

If the game becomes slightly sluggish, try changing the Magnification Filter to Bilinear on the View menu.
Not sure if everything were unlocked though, but Gamefaqs has some 'complete' saves.

Since most of the save files from Gamefaqs came from flashcard, you need to convert it to .dsv before it can be recognized by DeSmuMe.
Or use the DeSmuMe Import Backup Memory to convert the save file.

I'll try that soon then, thanks.
EDIT: Not sure what to do...One save is already in .dst, which is what my current save file is that I'm using now. While the other is in .dss, the converter doesn't list either .dss or .dst for the target...and there's like a bunch of options here on the "target format"...Starting to get confused here, if my current .dst save works fine...but the one with everything unlocked doesn't. And the import option isn't detecting the files either...ugh.

The Import function on DeSmuMe will only detect .sav and .duc files,
Post that save file here, see if I can convert it.

I suggest using the 0.9.4 as it gives more enhanced graphics compared to 0.9.6, only little though.
but if anything wrong with it, use the latest version.
This is the only save I can convert right now, I'll try to do the other later.

Make sure the save file name is same with the rom name.
e.g Advance Wars Dual Stike.dsv -> Advance Wars Dual Stike.nds
Put it in your SaveRam folder, and Run the game.
