Persona 4 gave me a headache. As far as J soundtracks go, I love Shenmue, and Shenmue II.

my favore song from summon night

my fave from muscle march, the version used in one of the taiko no tatsujin games is almost identical to this.

its been a while since i played okami and the soundtrack is still stuck in my head.

i love the irish and scottish flair in this song.

from dark cloud 2, one of my faves on the ps2.

I would hardly say all of the Mega Man games are noteworthy. I can think of a few (for example, MM4, MM6, X5) where the music was particularly grating. Granted, MM2 is one of my favorite 8-bit soundtracks of all time.

I do like Koji Kondo. However, my absolute video game related album, of all time, hands down, is the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Re-Arranged Album. I had no idea who remixed it (my copy is in Japanese, and I don't read Japanese so good), but it is fantastic. My only gripe is not enough Gerudo Valley.

Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies - Megalith Agnus Dei

The one song from the entire series that really struck home with me. Probably my favorite VGM of all.

Daisuke Ishiwatari, a personal favorite of mine, known for his Guilty Gear and BLAZBLUE compositions. Honestly, I don't really play fighting games much, but I do love the music.

Guilty Gear: Ky's Theme - Holy Orders (Be Just or Be Dead) / Remix ~Ky's Theme~
Guilty Gear: May's Theme - BLUE WATER BLUE SKY ~May's Theme~
BLAZBLUE: Calamity Trigger: Noel's Theme - Bullet Dance - Noel's Theme Song

Also, props to Tetsuya Shibata and Masami Ueda, the guys who worked on the music of the Devil May Cry series and various other Capcom titles. I had lots of fun with the DMC series, and was quite attached to the music. Something about that gothic/rock/techno blended in just right with the combat.

Devil May Cry 3: Vergil Battle 3 - Vergil Battle 3
Devil May Cry 4: Echidna Battle - The Viper

Lastly, Final Fantasy X. Much love to Nobuo Uematsu and the Square Enix crew.

Final Fantasy X: Zanarkand Ruins - Someday the Dream will End
Final Fantasy X: Boss Battle Theme 2 - Challenge

Awesome choice in the Megaman 2 Dr. Wiley theme - absolutely the best on the NES in my opinion.

    Other favs:
F-Zero X had a bunch of good ones. Here's rocking metal guitar version of one:

    Chrono Trigger - Frog's theme

    Chrono Trigger - Zeal

The Chrono Trigger ones not only are great songs, but are just perfectly fitting for the mood of the game and to this day still pull you into the game that much more.

    Castlevania IV - Stage 2

Tetris Attack - Flying Wiggler (love the slap bass!)
That was too close... you were almost a Jill sandwich.

I'll agree with Drageuth and Retro_Gamer on Koji Kondo... the genius in Koji's work is composing tunes that can be looped, while sounding like one long tune.. and without irritating the #$^&* out of the listener/gamer.
