'read without driver' error

So I have psx fin and after dling the first disc of FFVIII and FFVII from here I ended up having this error pop up in my command window saying 'read without driver'. I thought at first it might have something to do with my graphics card but I don't see how it could be since I can play the latest games like hl2 episode 2 without a problem. Could it be just a bad rom? If someone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Sorrry it took me alittle while to reply, but I dled epsxe like you said and everything works fine except, the battle menu does not show up in battle for any of the ff games. So what am I to do now?

Open the emulator, config, video, configure, increase offscreen drawing to 3.

Alright so Ive gotten all this to work but now Ive run into more problems haha. In silent hill white boxes appear around the bodies of characters and monsters and there is no voice acting. Should I just dick around in config til it comes out right?

Config > Sound > make sure all 3 are enabled:
Sound
XA Sound
CDDA Sound

Config > Video > Configure > Copy settings to clipboard > paste with next reply.
