Depends on your computer, what game you want to play, and what level of output you want.
I for one can't play it, the lagginess and selective compatibility annoys me.
Start off by telling us what your computer specs are, then look here to see if any games you like are fully playable.

PCSX2 is the emulator and the min requirements for it to run can be found here:

It says the bios isn't there because you have to extract it, but you just said it's corrupt/won't extract, so we'll need to get MasJ to fix that. Or perhaps someone who has the PS2 bios on hand can upload it for you.

You have to unzip the contents into PCSX2's bios folder (I'm assuming it has one as I've never bothered to try it since my gfx card is a bit weak)
Try reading the readme file that comes with it to learn how to use it.

also, there is a high .. um... hate for laptops for pcsx2.. over heat and slowdown from over heat issues (assuming stat wise you laptop could have ran it). It be safe to hold of ps2 emulation for notebooks for awhile till either:
1. better notebooks
2. better ps2 emu
3. you live somewhere cold
4. any or all of the above
thats the gist of the feeling i got from scanning around ps2 emu progress and stats for notebook vs. desktop

rom2 and eeprom aren't needed. If you only see that in the dialog box that pops up with PCSX2 then you should be fine.
