Lost Odyssey is worth buying if you liked Mass Effect and Oblivion (All three games I absolutely love to death.)
Two Worlds was disappointing because the battling sucked and so did the graphics and story, but it's 'quite fun' to play for a while.
Phantasy Star Universe is great especially if you enjoyed PSO on NGC or DC, because it now has a proper story mode and better battle system, plus it has a 'free-roam' and online mode for a more classic PSO experience.
Blue Dragon is no good in my opinion. The story isn't interesting, and battles are tiresome (and so are the characters), not to mention it's far too easy and childish.
Eternal Sonata (Trusty Bell) is very Japanese, you'll like it if you enjoyed games like Tales of Symphonia, Baten Chaos, stuff like that. It has a really heart warming story and it's very interesting to learn about classical music (the game was partly designed to teach people about Chopin.)
And Enchanted Arms, I like it very much. Only for the characters though, as an RPG it's nothing special.
FFXI is worth a look too if you like MMORPGs.

That's kind of novel. I guess there's Jun in Persona II: Innocent Sin, but I don't think his sexuality is ever exactly stated. So even if this guy is portrayed as a total stereotype, I guess it's still a nice step forward for diversity in JRPGs?
Agreed, though, that's just a tad ridiculous. I mean it's not like it's some sort of pornographic game. It's a console JRPG, and you're not going to have to endure OMFG HOT BUTTSEX. Even assuming that both leads were male, and there was a romantic subplot, the 'worst' you'd have to see in such a reserved genre would be a kiss. Even for the most closed-minded, prejudiced individual, is that game ruining? o__O
On topic, Eternal Sonata is lovely.
Although I can't imagine someone who won't play a game because one of its characters is gay would take too easily to its 'kiddy' graphics. Yay masculinity, and so forth~ ^_~
Yup, He's gay. I think people don't like it because he's over-the-top camp, with catchphrases like "Just telling it how it is sister!" Oh no. Also he's totally in love with another male protagonist, who's straight and manly. Which, err, actually makes for some great comedy moments.
I dunno. I just assumed so, along with everyone else. I know a few people who are biased toward it because they think that the characters gay. What does it matter though? He's killed after like an hour of gameplay anyway. /spoilers.
Ah ha! You just think he's killed, but he isn't. He comes back into the story as 'Mystery Man' and a completely new 'macho' personality to not raise suspicion.
