    Default Anime or no?

Do you like to watch anime, or do you absolutely just hate it with a passion?

I'm with the latter, I don't see what's so great about anime and why people love the crap so much.

Doesn't really appeal to me, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it crap.

    Different strokes and such.

I personally enjoy many anime shows. I'll admit though, there are some I don't like (US version of One Piece for example).

What most people don't seem to get is the fact that anime is simply another form of media. To me, somebody saying "I hate all anime" is basically the same as saying "I hate all movies" or "All shows on TV suck".

It's like any other medium (albeit with a different cultural bias). There's popular crap, unpopular crap, popular noncrap and unpopular noncrap.

You might as well claim to hate novels or movies.

Speaking of, I saw Everyone Loves Raymond and American Idol and disliked them, so all shows on TV are clearly beneath my notice.

Obviously, I agree with these Tanthias and Hypnos. Anime is its own medium, with its own tropes and conventions. Not all tropes tend to be used in all shows (Beach episode in Serial Experiments Lain or gratuitous bloodshed in Fancy Lala, for instance? Not a chance), and not all shows are alike. Actually, I can understand disliking the medium to a degree, since it is rooted in its art to a more literal degree. Still, you could have at least done the service of saying why you dislike it. Otherwise, you just look rather...well, as it is.

    I like anime.

Why? Because I do. You're not giving me any reasons of why you dislike it, I don't give you reasons for why I like it.
Also, I agree with Hypnos and Tantias.

I just don't like it because it looks stupid and boring to watch.

I don't watch too much TV these days, but when I do I like watching Dirty Jobs or American Chopper.

I've seen some of Cowboy Bebop, Naruto, and some others that I dont remember the names of. Total watch time of all anime is probably less than two hours.

Sounds to me like someone needs to watch a bit of FLCL.

Which, incidentally is the only anime I've thoroughly enjoyed. Oh, maybe the RotK one too, despite the fact that it's pretty damn bad.

    Michael Ballack, he scores free-kicks.
He's got black hair, and he's german.
    Michael Ballack, trains in paddocks.
in his spare time, HE FARMS HADDOCKS!
Watch me play Super C, guys!!

See, this would be your problem. Actually giving something a chance before you dismiss an entire medium is generally a good idea.

    Fair enough.

And you can't go wrong with Zhang Fei portrayed as a girly drunk.

I gave it a chance, I didn't like it, oh well. Nothing's going to change my mind about it. Just not my cup of tea.
