    Default PPF patching.

I just downloaded Parasite Eve 2, and it came with a couple of .ppf files, each for each disc, or so the .txt file that came with it says. How do I apply these patches? They're just two .ppf files.

Edit: Okay, I downloaded ppf-o-matic. Seems nice. But it says the patch and ISO file are different sizes (duh!), and asks if I should continue. Should I?

Edit 2: I did so, and it says the patch contains no bytes of patch-data. What the hell?

    Halo, stuff.

I read something about using ppf-o-matic, about it loading up a .bin file. Problem is, Parasite Eve 2 is in .img format. :O

I would if I knew how?

Should I just rename the .img extension to .bin?

Mount it to a virtual drive then rip it?

    Thanks, I'll try that.

Edit: Rip it with what? UltraISO and Alcohol won't detect the virtual drive.

Edit 2: Nevermind, UltraISO can covert .img to .bin/.cue.

Edit 3: Which doesn't matter, because ppf-o-fucking matic gives me the same error message even when using a .bin file.

Something about how certain cut scenes won't allow the player to progress in the game due to crashes.

Either give ISOBuster a try to convert your image file to .bin and then patch

    http://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?t=40611

or try to patch a different image file (like the one I upped for the main site).

I downloaded the same file and never patched it. It didn't work in my PS1, But it worked fine in PS2.

sounds like bollocks to me; if you're going to use a non-stealth (ancient) psx modchip then you will need to patch it.

but if your psx's chip is like from 1998-1999+ it will work fine without.

if you're going to use it on an emulator you don't need to do anything to it.

edit: ppf's generally just contain an intro + trainer/protection fixes.

Really? So, odds are, these patches would be for someone running the games on their PS1? 'Cause, I just plan on running it on ePSXe. Hm. I'll just play and see what happens through out the game. I may also download the one Cookie mentioned.

I'll give you a warning, ePSXe (both 1.5.2 and 1.6.0) will hang on two cutscenes on PE2.... and the only way I know of to get past the two scenes is to skip them.

The cutscenes during the introductions were skipable by pressing Start. I'm assuming I can do the same during cutscenes later on?
