I had to jump. Pretty crappy that you can't do it =/ I've never had problems with it.

i think ive got it now, you have to walk up the ramp while in the light speed mode

its probably this pad im using its well too big even for a DC pad

Yeah, all you need to do is walk up to the first ring and use the light speed dash. It only works if you're positioned correctly though.
