OMFG!! 2 Megabytes per second!

For some strange reason, tonight i'm getting wicked fast internet speeds of up to 12500kbps or roughly 2 megabytes/s
and averaging around 1MB/s
on my standard Highspeed cable connection.

my connection usually maxes out at 500KB/s on a good day!
but this is wicked insane

but right now im downloading a torrent at 200KB/s and uploading at 20KB/s while downloading the flightsimX demo at 700KB/s!
totaling 20UP and ~900-1000 DOWN!
and about 1500 DOWN with 0 UP

anyone know how this could be happening

Either you got upgraded without knowing it, but that's highly unlikely, or your area doesn't have many connections tonight.

that sounds normal, i do about 6k down and 800up and i have a 5mbit connect...

but 1mb doing 12,500, thats really odd

the only thing i can think of is that your connection was secretly upgraded, or everyone connecting to your ISP in the area, has stopped service...

my norm is 4mbit down and .5mbit up
but currently its 12.5mbit down and 5mbit up

Actually my ISP's rates are going up in January, and to compensate for that they upgraded our service from 3Mbit to 5Mbit

But there's only a .000006% chance of that being the same story for you Probably just quiet where your at, and thus you have been granted and are eating more bandwidth than normal.

could be your ISP trying out something new

for example comcast ( my ISP ) has this speedboost thing that doubles ur download speed temporarily when you start a download.
