I've already seen GotF (and Saikano, the other usual suspect for anime tragedies). Good movie, but it won't have the same impact the second time round. Which is why I need something new to watch.

Then just go rent a chick flick or Faces of Death. Those should do the trick.

I doubt he'd get depressed by that, I can imagine him watching FOD with a metal cd in the background.

    Anyways, you guys reminded me Grave of the Fireflies. Damn you. ;__;

Isn't that kinda the point of the thread?

Chick flicks should depress anybody that was born with a penis. Or otherwise, help him realize that he was born as the wrong gender.

Well, I meant the FOD movies. About chick flicks...uh....yeah, the Notebook or something I think it's called.

But movie thread is not here.

I'm looking for some good mecha anime I haven't seen...

    Have seen:
    Gundam series
    Evangelion

There's at least one more I can't remember the name of... Anyway, any suggestions?

edit: Oh, and I'm watching Eureka 7 at the moment as well.

Do you want super robot or more realistic? Personally, I really like the first 11 episodes of Gundam 08th MS Team(Realistic, known as the Gundam-hater's Gundam. Ignore ep 12, it sucks, and does nothing with the plot), Gunbuster and Diebuster(Super robot, same company as Eva, much less serious though) and the few episodes I've seen of New Getter Robo were pretty good.

It doesn't really matter to me if it's realistic or not. I'll check out the series you suggested. Thanks.

Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor is another good choice. Magic Knight Rayearth has mecha near the end of the first series and pretty much through the second, but it's not really a mecha series per se. Martian Successor Nadesico's another good choice and halfway to tongue-in-cheek humour through most of the series - actually, that's a bit of a blast from the past for me, since it's probably the third or fourth series I ever saw. Soukou no Strain is a fairly straightforward anime, aside from one episode in the middle that was a bit...well...moving along. Escaflowne certainly qualifies thanks to the abundance of suits and warfare, but I'd personally put it more as fantasy rather than sci fi mecha.

Wow, that hour spent making a checklist while trying to find out what in this mess I haven't burned yet really paid off for stuff like this.

I thought about mentioning Escaflowne and Macross, but figured that's not what he was looking for.

Just remembered another one that Tanthias might like:

    Thanks for all the suggestions

Btw, I liked the Escaflowne movie, so if the series is anything like that, I'll probably like it as well.
