Default .mdf and .mds = WTF!!!!

Me again. So, I downloaded Twisted Metal 2, and it came like this - 3 files =

    Twisted Metal2.mdf (around 700 Mb)
    Twisted Metal2.mds (around 1.5 Mb)
TM2Setup [package for the web stub] ( Ihave no idea what the f... is this)

I cannot mount the image - Alcohol 120 doesn`t mount mdf files, but it mount`s mds - OK. But after I mounting it and trying to start it up on ePSXe - nothing happends.....

And I have no idea what is that "setup" has to do with everuthing - I`m pretty sure I downloaded a PSX game.... I tried to run it (after scaning it for viruses, offcource...) but is said that "Twisted Metal 2" should be reinstalled.

    Help anybody?

Might be the PC game you have downloaded, not the PSX version. Seeing as the game was released for both PSX and PC. What is the file extension on the "SETUP" file?

The game does not run. Maybe because it is not the PSX version . That is what we're trying to find out right now
In the meantime, if you are sure this is the PSX version, mount the MDS, then use Alcohol (or another application like UltraISO) to make an .ISO or CUE/BIN file out of the mounted image, then try running the newly created ISO/CUE/BIN in ePSXe. It would also help if you explained what files can be found on the mounted image . You can find that out by browsing the mounted image from My Computer.

LOL! now I'm sure you got the PC version there

you're indeed supposed to mount the mds file, not the mdf. the .mds is to .mdf like .cue is to .bin

Anyways the obvious thing to do, after mounting it, is to browse the CD and check if you see setup.exe or install.exe files and such on it. Then it's definitely the PC version.

if it's the PSX version you'll see the serial ID file SCUS_943.06 (if it's US) or SCES-005.67 (if it's Europe)

ultraiso?? converting?? don't exaggerate with such drastic senseless measures (and crappy program)
If it doesn't run mounted, it still won't run at all if it's run from a CD image.

Either way, I'm sure it's the PC version

    Thanks for the quick reply.
Whell, I mounted the .mds file, but I couldn`t explore (browse) it.

    What now?

edit: I still cannot believe that I got the PC version there . Yes, the file is .exe allright... Some sort of instalation.

ePSXe can open disc images on it's own, including .mds's, if it's an actual playstation game. No need to mount the disc in a seperate program.
If it's a PC disc, Daemon tools can mount those file types. I've never used Alchohol, I wouldn't know about that program.
As I was walking down the stair,
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today.
    I wish, I wish he'd go away.

usually something I can mount but not browse means the mode in the cue is incorrect. But since this is mds/mdf we're talking about.......I don't know.
Personally I would delete it, since it seems the source you downloaded this from is downright crappy if you don't know what exactly you downloaded. But this certainly isn't psx

Lol had the same issue with Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition. Never knew they made a PC version of it.

I heard a .exe file mentioned in this thread. If that is so, then ePSXe wil run .exe files, so long as its a playstation .exe
