    Default Hopefully this is within the warez rules

    Hi all

    I was wondering if there was a specific way to rip music from a pc game? Thanks in advance

    Doesn't it depend on how the music is stored in the game?

    Like some PC games just use wav files, while others use other formats.

    Since you're not taking specifically about a "backup" copy of a PC game, I don't see how this falls under warez.

    So, tell us the name of the game.

    Use an external program to record the outputted audio while the game is playing.
    Other than that, it depends from game-to-game whether you can extract the original music files, and how. On some games it's absurdly easy (Like Morrowind, which has all it's music as .mp3 files in the game's files), others have them in strange forms lodged in the game's encrypted data file.
    I believe a registered copy of Gamecam (I'm sure you can find a way to get one) can record just audio of a game. :O It might be complicated as Duke Nukem 2 doesn't use Directx or open gl, which these types of recorder programs typically use to detect a game is running and activate itself. ;
    Too bad Galbadia Hotel just has music from Duke3d onwards.
    As I was walking down the stair,
    I met a man who wasn't there.
    He wasn't there again today.
    I wish, I wish he'd go away.

    BTW I need to point out that it needs to be in MIDI format. The friend wants to use this music to try and play it on guitar.
