    Default Snes9x & .7z

Well not necessarilly for Snes9x, but. Is there a SNES emulator that reads .7z archives? I don't wanna unpack that beasty 2GB goodmerge set. I've heard there's frontends and such...So what can I do to make the emulator play .7z ROMs?

Thanks. (Also I could do with a way for a Megadrive/32x emulator too)

Why can't you just compress them with the highest zip compressing in WinRAR?

I downloaded them 7zipped, 2gb of roms. I'm not losing space decompressing them all.

How much space do you have?

Well that's more then enough space. In WinRAR under the Files tab, you will see a check box that says "Put each file to seperate archive". Doing this will spit each file that has a different filename into seperate archives with the respective name for each file. This may make it easier for you to recompress them and it will also be a lot faster then going through them one by one.

That's not the solution I was looking for. I was hoping to be able to play them from within 7z archives. Not having to decompress/recompress them.

I know some emulators support zip/rar, but I've never heard of any that support .7z.

I think that you will have to decompress and recompress them.

Edit: What you are needing is Quickplay. I was able to get it to run a ROM in 7z in Snes9x just fine.

Well Astaroth, it looks like almostalive2003 was able to answer your question here. I still say you should recompress them so you don't have to hassle with it though. You can always burn them to DVDs.

if im not mistaken the 7zip sets contain all roms meaning you get the bad dumps and polish ones and hacks and stuff it would be easier to just pick all the u or e ones...

That would be Goodsets. It's the no-intro sets that are all verified good dumps (unless they are marked otherwise meaning there is no other good dump).

If this is a GoodMerged set, then that means most of the 7z files contain more than one rom.

I've never heard of an emulator that can play roms in archives where there's more than one rom in the archive.

I think you have no choice but to decompress them to play them.

Actually after reading this post i decided to give it a try and QuickPlay has GoodMerged Compatabilty.

I know thats not GoodMerged just some roms I put together in a single 7z file but it plays them just fine. just click the version of the game you want to play
