Future Of the ps2??

While looking up sales figures of the latest consoles I stumbled upon a few articles saying that the ps2 was out selling all current next gen consoles at the moment, so basically I want to discuss the future of the ps2. Do you all think it will have a "10 year console life" now discuss

I think that the PS2 will stay strong for some time to come, they are pretty easy to mod (slide card style), there is tons of games for it, and... people still like it. Even though there is a new generation of consoles coming out, i didnt need them to be happy with where video games were at.

But we all know what happens when new consoles are realsed, the games slow down and the prices drop to 99 usd new. I think right now sony should put most of its focus into ps2 games until the tech. is maxed out and worry about the ps3 later. Sony rushed the ps3 before they needed it wich was a....MISTAKE

The existence of similar systems to PS2 as Wii or PSP allows that thanks to great number of installed consoles are continued developing to titles multiplatform. If possible that everything is not sport games of EA and licenses of infantile series.

It's certainly possible that the PS2 will last for ten years in total. The PSX technically lasted about that length of time, didn't it?

I think I'm going to buy a PS2. Then I'll have 'all three.' As they say in the biz.

I think the PS2 will still last for some time. The installed userbase is extremely big - everyone has a PS2 these days. Smaller third parties would also prefer to devleop for the PS2 (Wii) because of cost. I don't see SNKP or Nippon Ichi releasing PS3 games very soon.

Ps2 is going to last till the prices of the ps3 go down I am not getting one now unless it's free anyways. Besides with every great consle there are unforgetable games that comes with the console e.g. Zone of the enders for the ps2 and supermario for the Gba and on so people will go back to the ps2.

Just what other people said. I think its gonna go strong for another year or two Just take a look at those AWESOME graphics of GOW2 and you'd know what the PS2 is actually capable of these days

But the OP was wrong the PS2 hasn't been outselling the Wii in the US... Just the PS3 and Xbox360...

At least it didn't outsell the Wii last month.
