Yeah, zombie kids/babies have been done to death.

But the important part is that the publisher gets to pick what footage they send to the ESRB, as the ESRB doesn't actually play through the entire game.

For anyone who cares: the demo of Dragon Age 2 came out today. I played through it today and it's... okay, I guess. But it didn't really blow me away and felt somewhat dumbed down compared to DA:O.

The combat feels more fast paced and the gore even more over-the-top. Expect insane amounts of dismemberment, you can pretty much slice people up into tiny pieces like it was an anime. If you think I'm exaggerating, take a look at this screenshot I took while playing. I'm not making this shit up. People can decide for themselves whether this is a good or a bad thing. I personally didn't mind it too much.

Also, the game occasionally stopping mid-cutscene with a "Loading..." message is pretty annoying.

tl;dr, it wasn't terrible, but I was expecting more. Then again, it's just a demo, so a final judgement would be way too early right now.

Pfft, Karura is more man than Arawn could ever hope to be.

    Lamest satan ever.

I just finished playing it (finally), and I enjoyed it. It felt a little disjointed and it certainly didn't blow me away either, but I wasn't expecting too much from a demo. For the most part, I just wanted to see how the changes made to the combat and dialogue options felt.

I chose a female rogue, which seemed to make the combat feel even more quickly paced. Her explosive strike caused a similar splash of darkspawn blood and guts to your screenshot. When I switched to the warrior NPC she felt a bit sluggish, at least after I'd grown used to Hawke. I also toyed around with the mage NPC, and was pleased to find that casting spells into a group of darkspawn doesn't cause the game to slow to a crawl for a few moments. Of course, I only had one spell to test.

I only experienced one "Loading..." message during a cut scene, and only for the briefest of moments, so that was easily forgiven.

I wasn't really expecting anything at all, rather I wanted to get a quick feel for the game, and I simply can/t resist a chance at something Dragon Age related that I haven't already finished. I don't particularly want to pay the price for a new game shortly after its launch, especially when I know they eventually released an ultimate edition for their previous installment, but I'll most likely end up getting it anyway.

The game looks like utter shit. What went wrong?

I'd like some Witcher 2 instead please. ^_______________^

Milady: Yeah, I wasn't expecting much either, I suppose. I picked rogue on my first run as well, and it was okay. But then I chose the mage, and found it to be a lot more fun to play than the rogue. But that's just me. I'm going to upload my mage playthrough to the LP section soon-ish, by the way.

So yeah, I still think that it's not that terrible, and I have a feeling that it's gonna grow on me just like the first game, but if I had to choose, I'd probably rather play ME3.

Man, I can't wait for The Witcher 2. Especially after the ending of the first one.

I didn't really enjoy playing with the mage NPC as much. I pretty much just mashed X to keep her attacking, and occasionally triangle to cast her AoE fireball, whilst with the rogue I was hacking and slashing, baskstabbing, evading, and generally just paying more attention and feeling more involved. However, I don't how if the controls on the PC would feel significantly different. I'm not generally the type of person to choose magic classes though, despite their tendency to be completely overpowered.

I don't think it was terrible at all. I'm really looking forward to DAII now, though not because of anything spectacular that happened in the demo, but simply because I had a lot of fun with DA:O and it will be nice to play in the same world again. It might not be perfect, or as wonderful as the first, but I'll most likely have fun with it, regardless.

The ME universe doesn't intrigue me as much.

Oh, about that. Auto-attack is turned off by default on consoles, and turned on in the PC version. No need to mash anything.

But yeah, it's really just personal preference, both the game and the classes. Plus, I know you're more of a fantasy person.

Edit: Damn, all this talk about hacking, slashing and getting involved made me want to play through it again with a Warrior.

Still only on chapter 3 but it's amazing. Thanks goes to our lord Gabe Newel for Steam and its summer/holiday sales.

Heh, Karura was probably the most awesome character in her own game, from what bit of it I played. Arawn wouldn't stand a chance.

So, that Eternal Fighter Zero, feels a bit familiar...though the excuse to shout "Multi-kill" is worth it...and will probably get you beaten with controllers after the first twenty times...

I'd consider her the most awesome. She's also one of the best options to take out the final boss the protagonist and his evil twin, both of them living gods, fused together. Both angry, and shortly after they're fingered as the ones who wiped super advanced humanity out once and for all Arawn's claim to fame? He rebelled against an absentee god. And died. To an angelic weapon. Not even an angel. Just a weapon made by one. And he barely manages to survive a repeat performance while backed up by a crapload of superpowered characters. She'd probably rip off his dick and feed it to him. She's already shown to be capable of both of those tasks.

I've never been able to look at those pop up pirate games the same since. Also, beating someone in your sleep gets a bit too literal for my liking.

So, it's the first screenshot from Thief 4.

People seem to be implying that it's gonna be very linear with third person view only. Which is pretty much what Thief shouldn't be. Hopefully those are just silly rumors, and I won't have to fanboy rage.
