3.8 adds codes to cheat or something like that.
To play PSX games you need another disc, Breaker Pro. SM is only for PS2 games.
Wow. just wow. I guess all I need to do now is purchase that bad boy. I owe my existance right now to your sir. but the sytem says i cannot rep you again.
Also check this out i clickeda link off that SM site and came across this Odd controller
hmm if i wasnt so use to using normal controllers that would be nice
for your question about psx games and the memory cards.
ps1 memory cards are needed to save ps1 games
the ps2 memory cards are needed for ps2 games
the ps2 can read both cards.
normally i keep the ps2 card in the first slot and the ps1 card in the second slot. and i never have problems i just select slot two while playing psx games.
Odds are that the ps3 reads ps1 and ps2 cards just as well as the games. i dont know yet since i dont own one and wont until FFXIII comes out.
as to add to your question about non sodering mods. is there a simple easy way to play psx games on an original ps2 without sodering with like that swapmagic disk??
Oh, and just to add to what's been said, while you can't save a PSX save directly to a PS2 memory card (PSX games will just see the slot as being empty), you can use the PS2 memory card browser to backup PSX saves from a PSX card to a PS2 one. And, since PS2 cards have a huge capacity compared to original PSX ones, space for PSX games basically ceases to be a problem.
...
I wish I had had a PS2 back when I played the PSX port of Diablo, though. That damn game ate ten blocks of a fifteen block memory card for one save.
Another 3 q's...
1.) How do I swap the games without cutting myself while its spinning? I sthere a technique to it?
2.) I read somewhere that labeling your burned PS2 games is a no no b/c it wears down/out the laser. Will this still be the case if the lid is open?
3.) What brand DVD+R is the best for burned PS2 or which is your favorite brand to use and that you have had no porblems with.
1) SwapMagic stops the discs for you. If you're using the Magic Keys, you just need to open the lid and swap one disc for another.
2) No idea, really. I've never labelled my games.
3) Verbatim has always been pretty good for me. I've heard that Taiyo Yuden are meant to be pretty good too.
I dl'd a magic keys 2 install video and i didnt see the SM disc stop spinning... but when i get this mod going the SM disc will spin and then stop correct? Allowing me to swap discs right?
Also I noticed in the installation pics the lid is up (obviously) but if i close the lid how can i get it open again? Can I just press the open lid button again? b/c one of the metal pieces i believe covers that pin. I may be mistaken idk.
Yes, as soon as the SM disc has loaded it'll stop spinning. I have them myself, and they work great.
AFAIK the Magic Keys are there to prevent the PS2 to detect that the lid is being opened. So yeah, you can just press the open button again to get it open.
Ofcourse, this isn't advisable to do while you're actually playing something
Then you just turn off the ps2 as you would normally. Load up the relevant SM discs again and put in another game. Rince repeat.
Sony discs on a Sony console is a bit of common sense isn't it?
