With a computer that slow I would say you could use pSX or ePSXe without the enhance graphics. pSX hardly uses any processor power even on a high end machine like my laptop but it is still a work in progress but at the same time it is the only PlayStation emulator still in contant development. ePSXe can still play some games that pSX cannot but there has not been an update for it for several years now so pSX is catching up fast.

    pSX The Emulator:

    ePSXe:

ePSXe does not come with all the plugins for it and I don't exactly know where to find them so hopefully someone else can point you in the right direction for those.

For those games that run too slow on ePSXe for your friend and that are not compatible with pSXfin, you'll need either CVGS or EmuRayden (which is a hack of CVGS)

You can get EmuRayden from here:
    http://memo5.dyndns.org/Emulateurs/C...den-v22eng.exe

To play ISO's with EmuRayden, you'll need a virtual drive program like Daemon Tools:
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_daemon_tools/?236

Mount the ISO onto Daemon Tools, then as long as you don't have any media in your CD/DVD drives, EmuRayden should find the mounted ISO and begin playing it.

Why does everyone keep calling it pSXfin? I know that's the name of the exe file but that only means it's a "final" version since there are also work in progress (WIP) versions that are not posted on the site but are there mostly for the author to test some changes.

pSX was it's official name, but people get confused. It's called pSXFin to most people now, I have no idea why they did it. Lol

PSX has become the most common abbreviation for the PlayStation (hardly anyone uses PS1 or PS)

    pSX resembles PSX too closely.
So, to avoid confusion, PSX is used for the console and pSXfin is used for the emulator.

The best psx emulation I have found is on the psp.

    Runs everything I've tried flawlessly.

    I use the psx2psp1.0

Thanks guys... i was thinking of going along the lines of Dark Alex's firmaware and soforth... which would be the best one?

Also my friends computer won't allow Daemon tools to be installed for some strange reason... any suggestions?

Won't allow Daemon Tools?!? Sounds like third party software is blocking it. You might want to have your friend check to see if any unwanted software is on his computer. It could have even come from copy protected software. Just my theory though as I've never heard of anyone being unable to install Daemon and I've never had any problems either.

Although..... If your friend already had virtual drive software installed (say Nero's Virtual Drive perhaps) it could conflict with Daemon tools and prevent it from working.

I don't think the machine will allow for virtual drive software...I've tried doing it when installing windows 98 and windows 2000 professional but still nothing.

Theres also no nero software installed.

Is this what's happening with your friend's computer?

    Zyxthior
I've just ran into this similar problem....

I tried installing Alcohol 120% (stay with me on this, it involves D-Tools as well) and I came up the same "Found new Hardware RAID/SCSI" and then the pop-up window to find the drivers for this new software. I set it to automatic, the driver won't work, and Alcohol 120% installation reverses itself.

Now, my buddy comes over, tries to install Daemon-Tools 3.47 and the SAME message comes up. Now I've installed D-Tools and Alcohol in the past and I've never seen this issue occur. He has a completely different system than mine...

When the message pops up to install the drivers, try manually installing the drivers and point it to Windows\inf\cdrom.inf

    EDIT--
Found another thread, may be relevant?

    EDIT2--
Found another one--did you or your friend try Googling for possible solutions?

    I would say 3.03 OE-C
3.10 A2 is giving some people problems, and you can't customize icons

    so, here it is (3.03 OE-C) >>>>>here<<<<<<
