Default FF9 Question, or just about ISOs in general

I am currently downloading files for FF9(Disc 1), and I noticed they all were .rar files and contained .bin files. What I was wondering was, do I need to somehow merge all of these .bin files into a single file to play the ISO?

And can I play the ISO directly from the emulator(ePSX) or do I need to burn the ISO to a CD?

You just extract the first RAR file. The RAR was split into multiple files so it could be easier to upload.

ePSXe can directly play the ISO. Other PSX emulators might require you to burn on to a CD or just using a virtual drive created by either Alcohol 120% or DAEMON Tools

Also a few notes to keep in mind when playing FF9:
Use ePSXe ver 1.5.2 as opposed to 1.6.1. This will prevent the constant freezing problems that occur during the FMV.
For sound use Eternal's SPU Plugin and enable the special sound fixes. Any others will cause annoying whine. Similar to ones done to computers with bad MIDI support.

Will that version work with the following plugins?Recommended Graphics Plugin:
    P.E.Op.S. GPU v1.17 or Pete's GPU Plugins v1.76

    Recommended Sound Plugin:
    Eternal SPU v1.41 or P.E.Op.S. DSound v1.9

    Recommended CD Plugin:
P.E.Op.S. CDR v1.4 or the default one that comes with the emulator
^Segnin referred those plugins in another thread, forgot which.

Yes it will. You should ignore the CD Plugin if your going to directly play the ISO.

Use PSXFin if you want to play Final Fantasy 9. It crashes on the latest version of ePSXe, the battle menu is not displayed if not configured correctly, etc.
If you use PSXFin there's non of that, just the game.

That can be easily fixed by using ePSXe 1.52 and increasing the offscreen drawing value to 3-4 in the video plugin config window

That's a few things you don't have to do in PSXFin.
