Between that and Ammo-Girl-Boy Rescue, I feel that you should seriously consider a career in naming games.

    ...

    But I'm afraid it's wrong.

It looks like a Raiden, but the pic is kinda tiny. So I assume it's a handheld game?

Nope, the pic is just tiny because the first screen that I found happened to be tiny. It's an arcade game.

Hmn. Psyvariar? No wait, is that even a real game name? How about Espgaluda, or whatever the shit it's called? No on that too? I'm all out of ideas. No wait, I have one more. Is it Gunbird? That's pretty much the extent of my shooter knowledge. At least as far as shooters in that perspective goes.

Oh, I know it's not 1943 or any of its sequals, since those never featured ships that look like souped-up Galaga enemies.

Close-ish. It's not by Cave, the makers of Espgaluda, but by Raizing, who were another offshoot of the same company as Cave, and tend to develop a very similar style of game.

    EDIT: Here's a bigger image, too. =o

Eep, maybe this game is a little more obscure than I realised. x_X I kinda just downloaded it on a whim a little while back, and assumed it was fairly well known.

I can't recall the last time I've played a PC shmup, and that looks like a kinda recent game. So no idea here...
