How to extract split archives using WinRar Tutorial

Almost all new games are compressed using
either WinRar or Winzip. The most common
extensions are therefore .rar and .zip. However,
because of the great size that games take, even
after compressed, it is common to make split
archives, that you will have to extract the game
from before you can play it in an emulator or burn it.

Most split archives come with lots of numbered
files like part01.rar, .001, .002 and so on. This
guide will show you how to extract files from split
archives like that, using WinRar (free). So, first go to
www.rarlabs.com and download the latest
Windows version of WinRar.

Step 1:

First make sure that all the split archives you have
downloaded are in the same folder on your harddisk,
and that you have not renamed them (they will need
to be named the same). Look at the image below to
see an example of what a folder with split archives should contain:

Step 2:

Now that you have WinRar installed, right-click on
the file with the lowest number. If your files only have
numbers and no .part extension, you should also right-click
the one with the lowest number, or if there is a file named
simply .rar, right-click that one. You will see a menu choice
now, that says “Extract here”. Press that, just like in this picture:

Final Step:

After WinRar has extracted from the split archives, you will
end up with your game/file, ready to be played or burned.
You do not need to extract from any other archive in the folder,
as WinRar has already done that.
