It was alright I guess. I'm not a huge fan of the reboot movies tbh but I guess the previous one was the better movie so far.

    Spoiler warning:
Shohreh Aghdashloo's voice really bothers me. I'm not talking about her accent because I'm not bothered by diversity like that, it's just whatever is going on with her voice...like it goes really deep sometimes. It's just really distracting
The only complaint I have about The Expanse tv series is her voice. Thankfully she isn't in much of Beyond.

I think people made a big deal out of Sulu being gay. It isn't in your face kind of stuff, when I heard about it I was a little concerned but these movies are pretty far removed from traditional Trek that a little subtle same sex relationship like this isn't shocking. Yeah ok, in the original tv series and movies Sulu was never identified as being gay but other changes are far more obvious. Like Kirk getting command of the Enterprise so quickly in the reboot but originally it took years working up through the ranks.

Interesting that Xindi and Romulan wars were mentioned.

I actually thought the idea of the Franklin going missing ages ago, the captain being ex-MACO and losing the plot was kinda interesting.

    The Giver

I haven't read the book in something like 20 years so my memory isn't the best, but it seemed like a... better adaption than I was expecting when I first heard about it.
It wasn't quite a New Hope remake. But hey, face it, at least it's better than the original prequels.

I watched the Star Wars prequel trilogy again a few days ago.

They were somehow even worse than I recalled them. I suppose a few years will make memories fade...

    Equilibrium

For a society of people using a drug to not have emotions, there were several people who just openly showed them. And also it had a big dumb action ending that was shit.

Recently watched The Rainmaker by Francis Ford Coppola. One of the best movie adaptions of John Grisham's books.
