    Arrow The Best of 2006.

Or should I title this the best of 2005? Sorry, this rollback is still confusing me

So let's comment here what has been the best of the past year in your opinion, best games for each platform, best absolute game, best console, best company and add whatever other category you feel like mentioning, but please, always add a comment to your moninees.
I'll post mines a bit later when I have some time.

My best of 2006 is based on what system I own and what games have been released here in Europe.

    PS2: Kingdom Hearts 2
Gamecube: The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess
    DS: New Super Mario Bros.
    PSP: Megaman Maverick Hunter X
    PC: TESIV: Oblivion

I'll see if I can be bothered to add some comments later on.

Best RPG of the year: Xenosaga Episode III
While not the experience I hoped it would be, the series in general held enough merit for me to enjoy it. The final chapter wraps up the story nicely, and for once actually introduces an enjoyable battle system to the game.

Runner ups: Kingdom Hearts II, Final Fantasy XII.

Best company of the year: Nintendo
And rightfully so. The impact the Wii had on the gaming scene was unheard of until Nintendo came along with this year's announcement. Nintendo among all the other companies, definately showed the most promise this year with its Wii.

Runner ups: Nippon Ichi, Square Enix.

Best console of the year: Playstation 2
With next gen excluded since I didn't get to play any, the Playstation's dying phase proved to be its most powerful. No other console had an extraordinary release list like the Playstation did in 2006.

I might add more a bit later, and I'm sure the list will change by the time I finish playing the backlog of 2006 games I have (Suikoden V, Okami, Shin Megami Tensei, Magna Carta, Valkyrie Profile 2 to mention a few.)

Best Game: None. None of them stood up above the rest

The next games are my favorite, whether they are the best is arguable
Favorite PC Game: Company of Heroes
Favorite Xbox 360 Game: Gears of War
    Favorite Gamecube Game: Twilight Princess
    Favorite Wii Game(s): Wii Sports
    Favorite PS3 Game: Tekken 5
Favorite DS Game: New Super Mario Bros

    Best Company: Nintendo by far
Best Platform: Xbox 360. The amount of quality releases couldnt be matched by the PC or any old-gen game, and the next generation systems just didnt have enough time
Best HD Movie Format: HDDVD, even if I only own BR, it has better releases by far

I wont bother adding more comments. Everyone has their opinions, I dont feel the need to back up mine.

Xbox 360: Ninety Nine Nights or PGR3
Xbox: Scarface (Probably one of the only games from 2006 that I've enjoyed on teh old Xbox)
(That's all the modern consoles I own...Ain't that sad?)

I know you said you didn't need to back up your opinion, but I have a question. If Nintendo is by far the best company, and the Xbox 360 is the best platform, are you basing this on Nintendo's retirement plan? Maybe medical benefits?

Best Games of the Year - Halo 2 and SSBM. Wait a minute, those didn't come out just last year. Oh my bad, those are just the games that I have enjoyed the most this past year. Actually I have been enjoying those games for a while now. Best games of the past 5 years in my opinion.

Well, I didn't get to play Wii yet, but definite merit goes to the XBOX 360, for turning me over to Microsoft's side of the fence...

I still hate SONY, so PS3-whatever...

Ditto, I actually HATED the first Xbox, except for Doom (it's more cheap for me getting the whole console than upgrading my PC to play it! ) and PGR, on the other hand, 360 is starting to appeal me, way more than the first one did.

I do differ from the PS3 comment, though.

Best Platform meaning total games, xbox live, everything

Best company meaning they are making the moolah, are making good decisions, and are in a totally different position then they were in a year ago.

Best game of 2006 is Final Fantasy XII for me. It was by far the most awesome game I played last year. The only bad thing I can think of is probably the boring/not too original ending.
