Default TheotheImpaler's N64 Emulation guide. Game ###: Super Mario 64

    - Testing

    -- Known issues and bugs

Princess toadstool/bowser picture doesn't dissolve between each other.

This was a problem that was not supported earlier. using Direct64 plugin will support this.

    -- Project64 1.6
--- Initial testing including graphics and sound plugins

I used the default emulator settings for this game. This game is pretty well emulated with very few issues.

    --- Screenshots

    -- 1964
--- Initial testing including graphics and sound plugins

As with project 64, I used the default settings except I did switch the default graphics plugin with the newest jabo's, with similar results.

    --- Screenshots

Yeah I've had problems with that one on my laptop I'll have to see if my desktop can support pixel shading, I beleive that was necessary for the peach/bowser picture transistion to work correctly?

Edit: hmm, its not recognising the plugin when I try to change plugins I don't think my graphics can support it, I get an error stating it can't read the d3dx9_24.dll. I have a geforce mx440, can this support it?

    Edit 2.

Okies, I have a general build, I'll try and make it so its like this in the future with other games, I'm hoping that this will be of help to people, I know this particular game is not too detailed but it is generally well emulated so I hope this will be of help if tackling other more harder to emulate games

Edit 3 Taken from the first post for cleaning purposes.

This will be the first of a number of tests put on an N64 game, there will be a thread per game, and it will be tested in Project64 and 1964, and possibly other emulators, it will be tested until the best settings are reached for each emulator. I am testing this on a p4 2.4ghz processor with a Geforce mx 440. everything below will be testing with screen shots. Just before I begin, I will say that I'm going to put this into several sections as follows

    -Testing
    --Known Issues.
    --Project 64
---Initial testing including graphics and sound plugins
    ---Screenshots
    ---Bugs/issues
    --1964

    ---Screenshots
    ---Bugs/issues
    --possible other emulator
---Initial testing including graphics and sound plugins
    ---Screenshots
    ---Bugs/issues

I'm going to leave this thread open while I do the testing this hour, as I would like thoughts and suggestions, maybe to other games even though I will delete all the posts afterwards and close the thread or maybe leave it open depending if there is any good input (this is an experimental idea so it might fall through). This game is pretty well emulated. so its a nice one to begin with.

GF4 MX doesn't support pixel shaders at all, so no Direct64, GLN64 should work great though.

bugger. I'll grab that, I've made a note of the problem with the bowser/peach picture, I'll try the GLN64. I've not heard of that plugin before. do you mean the glide plug-in?

Nope, GLN64 - Orkins GL plugin.

And isn't the Picture transition fixed in Jabos D3D8? Thought that was in the release version, long time since I checked though.

Oh, bugger, I'll have to get that then I just tried it out with the newest one and still no luck, same with jabo's plugin, it probably is my graphics card. hmm, I'll get the orkins, and give it a shot, I'll be back in about 10 mins, I have to start from the begining again, because I have no idea whether or not the transistion thingy still happens after you defeat bowser lol.

Edit: I tried the newest orkins plugin, and no luck so I presume that it must be my card at fault here, thanks for noting the plugin nonetheless its a good one
