it's completely for free, fast and compresses well. I'll use that from now on, so you'll need it for my uploads

Well whats wrong with WinRar or WinZip ?? Those are shareware too, so you can say they are "semi-free" But no problems compressing and uncompressing files

Ha, I tried that POS a while ago. Every time I used it, my ressources would go down to never come back up again. I hope they corrected that. Anyways, I use 7zip for everything. Not a single problem yet, even with rar files (just the opening, can't actually compress in that format). I do my batch zipping using ultimate zip.

well the newest version is 6.0, perhaps you had an old one.
    the advantages are:
    -completely free
    -extreme fast
-very high compression (much better then winrar)

Does it use the rar format?

EDIT: I just checked, and it doesn't.

It can extract that format, but not the other way.

I use 7zip on my Windows 2k and p7zip on Linux. Sometimes Winuha and Winuda. I had bad problems with ZipGenius in the past...

I'll stick with my completely legally paid version of WinRar. Mainly because I like renaming files .rarrrrrr!
