Default Hollywood wants to invade video games

Ive been looking at Comedy Central since ive been sick with the flu for the last few days(normally i dont watch TV), and i have seen something called the Video game awards coming on this Saturday. It's supposed to be hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, and have a whole slew of celebrities (Vin Diesel, Tony Hawk, other who have nothing to do with games...). I personally find this invasive and disgusting. Video gaming has been something ive done my whole life. I enjoy each well done game as a person enjoys a piece of art. It has grown from an obscure habit of outcast kids to a national sport (almost ). And now Hollywood is going to plant it's hideous paws on our "art".

There have only been a few games that are totally about cash, mostly Harry Potter and other movie based games, and they are usually widely rejected until it hits the bargain bin. I don't want my video games to become saturated with Hollywood voice-overs. I don't want 1,315 Harry Potter games that have the EXACT same graphics engine powering them all, at the low price of 50 bucks each. I don't want more media frenzy. I don't want movies based on games (RE SUCKED ASS, Doom was so-so). I don't want Brad Pitt getting 5mil to do the voice of a character in Troy: The Game. All of this will make gaming just like Hollywood: A town that produces crap-ollah at crazy prices.

    Am i alone on this...?

Yeah, that sucks a lot, but games are getting popular and hollywood invades everything that is popular in a search for $. It's Like the music industry, how many child stars now have record contracts? Meanwhile good musicians go unsigned, unsupported, and underpaid. Meanwhile some 17 year old girl who hasn't sung a line in her life gets a multi million dollar contract due to starring in several films, being good looking, and/or having a famous relative. That just sucks hard. Of course some money and support for games couldn't hurt, since I'm sure that with the help of some $ and high end GFX technology they can make some good games, unfortunately that may mean the games will suck. Since games are now really expensive to make, It would make sense to have some way to earn extra cash, and in some cases it doesn't bother me. Do I notice a Mountain Dew billboard/soda machine while cruising some city in a game? Nope, it doesn't seem any more out of place than it is in the real world. Sponsorships? Sports games have been doing it for years and the quality has only gone up (Madden anyone?). Plus as for Samuel L Jackson, he was in GTA: Sa. Did you notice him? Maybe not. Did it ruin the game? Not IMO, it still was good (the whole series was full of celeb cameos and main characters actually). Tony Hawk? He's released some games that were good (sure the quality has been going downhill and the series is pretty stale, but they aren't total sellouts). As for Movies and games, I've said enough about that, and I'm sure that we can all agree that is a bad thing. Now if you'll excuse me, I have Uwe Boll tied to a chair and I think it's time I tried out my new baseball bat....

    I didn't say any names *cough*sucks*cough*

EDIT- and I don't think it's invasion of games, quite so much as a prison rape of games.

Hollywood has been "invading" crappy games for a long time now. Actual gamers that aren't into the dumb sports/driving/shooting games are still immune from Hollywood and MTV's influence. RPGs and strategy games are still largely ignored by Americans.
Those video games awards probably don't even mention RPGs. The video game shows you see on Spike TV or whatever are focuses on the idiotic masses, to them all games are action.

I'm a fan of SLJ, so i did notice he was in SA, but he is still a movie star with no place at a video game award show. It is a total ass rape of the industry. While there has been low level participation of sponsors and hollywood for some time now, I'm hoping that this isnt the begining of a larger and more sinister invasion. The Mountain Dew billboards may not bother you, but what if they put an actual commercial before the game starts like DVD's do? There are sooooo many levels of garbage that this can reach. I only hope for the best.

You would have shit yourself if you watch the 2003. It was hosted by David Spade. Who has even less to do with video games that SLJ. But in his defence he was funnier that hell. Then in 2004 It was Snoop Dog who hosted it, he was at least a secret character in True Crimes. Which got some awards back in 2003. I'm still confused as to what they were thinking. So don't waste your time. All you will end up doing is yelling at the t.v.
I can think of anything of worth to put here.
