Firewall install Trouble... help PLEEZE!

some time ago, i originally had blackice installed on my machine.... my computer began running really slow, people told me that blackice was the problem.. so i tried to uninstall it, but it wouldnt uninstall. kept getting an error. so i deleted the blackice folder from the program files directory, and every time i try to install a different firewall each application says that blackice is running on my system.. i've tried to clear out the registry but i dunno what i'm doing..

i wanted to install a newer version of blackice and it says

"Blackice has detected that BlackICE daemon is installed on your system . this usually means a remotely installed verison of blackice is running

contact system administrator"

ii ran a search on "daemon" and only my daemon tools virtual cd rom drive program popped up. i also went into c:windows-system32-drivers and deleted these four files that were associated with blackice.. and i'm still getting that error..

maybe its a system service or something you need to stop.

Also regedit has a search function you can use to maybe find keys you missed deleting

daemon, is a program that works in the background (usually initiated at system boot time) and performs repetitive services. It runs continually within a network node to handle tasks such as directing mail or routing data. sounds to me like its being used by some other program or process. http://www.mikasalonen.com/download.shtml thats what i use to get rid of stubborn programs that wont uninstall. cant help much more then that cause im stupid but maybe polobunny or zorlon? they're pretty smart when it comes to these things.

my regedit dont have a search function, and the "remover" tool from the web page u gamme doesnt even have blackice listed cuz i removed the entry a while ago, and deleted most of its files to the best of my ability

Remove the entrys in the registry at hand.

do i go to start-run "regedit"? i ran that but, there are loottts of entries and i dunno where to start. i do not see a search function. please assist

Go to the keys they specify and delete them in the order they are.
HKLM mean HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKCU means HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

that occured when i tried to install a newer version of blackice just now.... everything was goin fine till that gay sh1t just popped up..

also, check the services list if you haven't already (control panel>>administrative tools>>services).

And use the registry editor's search function (edit>>Find..). Also try searching yourself:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>SOFTWARE or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>SOFTWARE>>Microsoft are two places to look.
