I too would go with the SNES. I have found the largest number of good games on it, apart from the GBA ofcourse, but that's a handheld so it doesn't qualify for this. Next I would probably say the PSX.

SNES was a nice little system (wish they had built the CD add-on though) and PS1 is pretty good too... The best current console is prolly the PS2 given it's huge library of games and 100% ability to play PS1 games as well. When PS3 comes out it will take over though
The PS3 and Xbox 360 may have out of this world specs but that only interests the simeon-like (monkey like for those with a limit comprehension) fanboy types and not the true gamer that bases his opinion upon the quality of the games produced for the console, and of course the originality of the console itself.
I think since the Nitnendo Revolution is taking a brave step in the right direction away from the tedious and unnoriginal gaming interface that we use at the moment, i.e limited controller input, but with the Revolution controller you can be provided with an almost limitless selection of controller input that might well be the precursor to VR gaming.
On the seventh dawn of the seventh day a twice-blessed man will roam the fields. Doomed to shadows with his brethren, or saviour to all who walk the ground.
I think you didn't realize that the 'fanboy monkeys' are the majority. I know a lot more people that play games because 'Damn that looks fawking aaawesome!', and not because of the gameplay.Originally Posted by psychofox
And yes, I think Nintendo is going in an interesting way, trying to exploit new possibilities, rather than sticking to the "bigger, faster = better" theory.
The NES....
It kinda started the whole console cycle...
There were others before it, but the NES had the goods...
Zelda, Mario, FF....
My Trade List (Updated: Jan 24, 2007). Now Taking Requests.
This is teh Intarwebz...We care not for Copyrights!
The Neo Geo.
Best game collection = best console (for me at least). So, that ties the SNES and the PS2 on first place (PS2 alone would be second, but the backwards compatibility with the PSX is simply awesome).

Yes, I agree with everybody else that the Super Nintendo is far superior to any other. It has Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy's, Super Mario's (IN SIDESCROLL :O:O), and other random games that are fun to a point you can't put them down. I could say that the Xbox is the best console on the market. (And it is) if you plan to mod it. Then you will be able to play SNES () as well as other great consoles such as the N64 and anything previous to it.
Nintendo 64 and the SNES. Fanboy's, UNITE!

Even FF was on the NES and SNES.
I meant the length of a game in particular. A lot of games on the PS2 and PS1 can take from 50 hours to 120 hours to complete. Some even longer still.
