I'm looking for a program that can convert an avi file into a dvd image so I can play it on my DVD player. I've searched Google and the forums but no such luck. So if anyone knows of a way to do this that would be great.

Nero can do that on the fly. Didn't you get a Burning suite with your dvd burner ? That should be pretty capable..

Nero == the best program for this sort of thing... Just make sure you have a normal codec, not a DirectShow codec... DirectShow codecs are useless for video conversion...

I tried the software that came with my burner but when I put the file to burn onto the dvd, it's WAY too big. It turns out to be like 7.5 gigs when the avi file is only 700 megs. So now I'm downloading Nero. We'll see if it can turn it into an image file. Thanks for the help.

thats with every file because to burn it to a dvd they need to decompress the info,so any file that you want to add to a dvd will be bigger than the normal size
