Default Copying and making ISO's of PS2 games.

I've had a lot of people ask me this so I thought I'd add a FAQ on how to do this.

    What you need :

    DVD reader(for making iso's)
DVD writer(for copying iso's to work on the PS2)
PS2 with a way to play copied discs(to play the game )
    DVD Decrypter http://www.afterdawn.com/software/vi..._decrypter.cfm
    PS2 game(if making an iso)
    PS2 iso(if making a copy)

Making an iso from a game disc :
After installing DVD Decrypter start it up. Go to Mode and go right to the bottom where it says ISO> and select read. You can pick where your iso goes to. I usually export it to my desktop for easy finding. After you pick where you want your file to go hit the icon of a DVD with an arrow to a Hardrive and your disc will begin writing to your computer.

Making a game from an iso :
Instead of selecting read in mode select write. You can then find which file you want to make a copy of. If there is a MDS file select that instead of the iso. Otherwise just select the iso. There may be a range of other file types(.nrg for example), just treat them as an iso. Select the DVD to HDD icon instead with a blank DVD in the writer and your good to go.

Hope this helps. If it could get a sticky that would be cool

Making ISO's of CD games is simple... It's just like making a ISO of a PSX game.

I guess you mean the compressed file is split(r01, r02.. or 001, 002..). Just install winrar, right click the first file of Suikoden and hit extract here, once the extraction finishes you'll end withthe image file (ISO, MDS/MDF...)

Hi guys, kinda need help burning PS2 DVD games here. First of all, I finished downloading the ISO or CUE files of a game, and then I use Alcohol 120%, which recognises the file and burnt it onto a blank DVD-R disc at 8x speed. When I play on my modded PS2 console, it won't work. It just doesnt recognise it. Do you know where I went wrong? Was it blank DVD (should it be +R instead of -R)? or is it the speed? As for PS2 CD games, it worked totally fine. (Burnt Growlanser Generations and it worked on my PS2)

Would appreciate any advice. Thanks guys!

There could be many things, too high speed (I always burn at 1x or 2x, but that's me), a bad image file, the DVD brand you used (try to use the best you can afford).. is this the first PS2 DVD game that you burn? If so and it was DVD-R maybe it's only that your console wants DVD+R.

Hey cookie, yes its my first PS2 DVD that I've ever burnt. I'll give it a go at another better-branded DVD-R and burn it at 1x-2x. Otherwise, I'll get a few DVD+R and try burning it. I got most of the image file from Emuparadise.
    Cheers for the suggestions!

Do you have a modchip or a fliptop? That'd be another question to ask. If you do then yea I suggest burning at lower speeds...

Hey Tancred, I have no idea what a fliptop is, but yes my system is modded. I think it's embedded with Messiah chip or something. And yep, normal CD-R PS2 games work fine. I've tested a few and burnt with Imation CD-R blanks. I just bought a couple of DVD+R blanks, and once I test burning a PS2 DVD game, I'll post my findings. If it still doesn't work, I'm running out of options...

Ok guys, bad news. Burnt Sony DVD+R at 4x with Alcohol 120%(for some reason, that's the lowest that the burner offers), and tested the game at my PS2 and it didn't work. My burner is Pioneer DVD-RW DVR 108. I tested the option with Nero, and the lowest speed it can burn is choiced at 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x (I have no idea where that 12x comes from, cause as far as i know my burner can support up to 8x and the DVD+R is 1-8x compatible). Any idea?

So you run Alcohol, load the ISO file and what you burn doesnt work.. could it be a bad image file? what game are you trying to burn, did you dled it from EP?
Maybe its' your burning software, try to burn it with DVD Decrypter following DementedLullaby's first post in this thread.
