Default Sound keeps skipping? Sometimes even freezes me...

Okay. My brother recently downloaded Ehrgeiz, upon playing it. The first thing I noticed was that the music in the Dungeon mode would lag horribly. Or skip, or just something. It cuts out on and off continiously to the point where it drives me nuts. I could easily turn volume off, but.. I'd rather find a way to fix this issue.

Sometimes certain sounds lag me to the point my game freezes for a minute or two ( I.e: I tried using my shield, and whenever a monster hit it, it'd make a DING sound, like its supposed to. However. Everytime that ding sound occurs, my game freezes for a minute or so )

I am currently still using ePSXe 1.52. I'm looking for a way to fix this issue with 1.52...

    Sound specs are:

    Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41

[X] Enable Sound (Select to enable ADPCM sound)
[X] Enable CDDA (Select the enable CDROM sound)
[X] Enable XA sound (select to enable XA sound in MDEC)
[X] Enable SPU IRQ hack (need in some games)

All of these are checked. In configuration it is:

    Audio device-

Direct Sound --- Buffer Size: 64

    Audio out method-

    SPUasync --- Async mode: Smooth

    Special game fix-

    [X] Update before accessing register
[X] SPU IRQ - Wait CPU action
    [X] SPU IRQ - Force interruption flag7

Again, all checked. But I'm sure you could've figured out by now that [X] means checked, and [ ] means it's not.

    Misc -
[ ] Show realtime config window
[ ] Wait for XA buffer is free
    [ ] Cache VAG decode
    Fine tune 0
    Reverb: Neill's

Theres no "Copy to clipboard" option here, so I had to type it all out. Sorry if most is alot of useless information.

P.S: Yes. I did try hitting "Reset to Default" and trying it. Nothing different. Still skips. Some will probably say this is a lag issue. However my music and sounds do not lag on Xenogears or Chrono Cross.
