They doesn't really come close to tri-Ace's games. Especially to ToP and SO.

Well i've played ToP and it was great, but didn't get a chance to play SO yet, i might go back to the snes emulator for a while.

Yesh. There are many great titles for SNES. Ever tried Bahamut Lagoon? Now that's a kickass tactical-RPG. You have dragons as pets.

First of all that's opinion, second of all before the merge with Enix Square actually made a lot of kick ass games. PSX and SNES days of SqaureSoft kicked ass.

Try out Bahumut Lagoon by Square, there's a translated copy out there.

Make sure to play both ToP and SO, both being great titles despite SO feeling rushed in some parts(especially near the end).

Pretty much the only Square games I can tolerate are:

    Vagrant Story
    FFT
    Bahamut Lagoon
    A few others I can't recall

Everything else of theirs is just the same old crap redone.

wow there are a LOT more good games from square than that. i mean the new ones (since the merge with enix) are mediocre at best, but the old games were great. i just hope they dont mess up the new final fantasy and kingdom hearts.

oh yeah you should play xenogears if ya want a good square soft game. i mean i dont know a soul that disliked it.

Sometimes people should consider thinking about the fact that games aren't neccessarily made by the company who publishes it. Okay, this sounds weird in the case of Square since it has multiple sub-divisions or whatever you want to call them. The thing is, that those were (usually) individual developer groups, until they got bought by Square.
I agree that the FF series is far too repetitive to be enjoyable each time, still, it's fun, just nothing spectacular or innovative in terms of game design. Just as you've said, the same old crap redone. FF1 was actually challenging, so I liked that.
But Square isn't just FF. Front Mission is a fun mecha tactical/strategy game, having an action/RPG side story, Gun Hazard. Story is decent, though not all that original.
I also liked Chrono Trigger back when I was smaller... Chrono Cross was just totally fucked up with all those characters. Nice battle system, but that's all.
Vagrant Story and FFT were developed by the same people who did Tactics Ogre and the Ogre Battle saga, you might want to check them out.

What I was aiming at is developer <> publisher. This goes for ToP and SO, too. triAce/Wolf Team is not Enix, and therefore it's wrong to put them all in one group with the rest of games, because all they have in common is the company who gave the big money to make a game.

About Xenogears: I've started playing it recently. The graphics are very interesting, the mech combat combined with hand-to-hand fighting is very interesting. Don't know much about the story yet.

The only problem with Bahamut Lagoon is it needs more variety in music. You hear almost the same songs each time.

    gleh, you people suck.

I could provide you with a list, but since I'm currently all in love with Koei again I'll simply mention one game: Inindo - The Way of the Ninja. Say thanks, seriously, do it.

Edit: Flamingnats (or whatever): You're an anti-fanboy. You do know that's even worse than being one of those "omgish! Finel fanstasi si teh best wow elmdor let me blow u plz?" retards, right? Ok, maybe equally bad atleast.

    Edit 2: Tri Ace <3

Well Square were pretty crap after the PSOne era, FFX really sucked as with FFTA both plotwise really ruined it and the ideas they had for them reeked as well. And yes Tri-Ace does kick ass.

Sorry if my post isn't wanted or needed here, but I felt a few things just had to be said...
First off, FlamingGnats, about the 98% remark. Because of that, I now know to disregard anything and everything you say, as you obviously have no taste.

Second, I am shocked and appalled that nobody's recommended EarthBound yet, as it is quite possibly my favorite game of all time.

    That is all.

okay, wait, hold on! so, according to you, everyone needs to be neutral about everything? people who spaz and go n00b with their love for final fantasy are retards and bad but so are people who dislike it? im sorry, but everyone has their own opinions and to tell you the truth, no one should really give a fuck about each others opinions. its not like they change anything. im slowly losing my faith in the human race
