Default Do you have any questions about the bible?

I hope you dont mind me making this thread but i think people do have questions
even if they dont belive in god or are not religeous.
i am willing to try answer questions about the greek and hebrew scriptures
if you have a question about something the bible says just post it here.
Please allow me time since some questions i may need to reaserch.
i will also sticky this thread if i can for now.

Jesus says "If you have faith and pray, God will move the mountains for you, literally." However, on the same topic, he later says, effectively, "Just because you pray and believe doesn't mean it will happen."
Therefore, he ultimately says "God is unreliable."
    Explain that one, please.

Is there an official stance on incest?

And after answering that, could you tell me if Adam and Eve implies incest? (first 2 people to spawn humanity, so that would mean their offspring have to reproduce amongst themselves, wouldn't it?)

I will leave this thread open for now as I don't see anything that is terribly against the rules right now. But if this turns into a flame war as many religious threads do it will be closed if not by me, but another mod. Please don't let this happen.

I don't mean to be patronising, I'm genuinely interested.

i cant quote the scripure off the top of my head (I can by tommorow)
but yes, in the mosiac law that Jehovah gave to moses on mt.siani
There was a large portion about the laws on incest.
since up until that time incest was practiced.
It Says about many forms on incest including father daughter,
auntie nephew, brother sister and so on..

EDIT - Oh and yeah as you imagine the penalty for practicing
incest according to the mosaic law was death for both partys

and yes Adam and Eve's children Were practesers of incest,
for at the time they were belived to be ' close to perfection '
with most humans at that time living till 900 years old.
i suppose the reason icest is wrong (in practical terms i mean)
Is because the offspering is noramally disabled or something.
but when humans were nearly perfect this didnt happen.

I could give more in depth info including quotes from the bible tommorow to back some of the points up.

Don't forget to mention that even Abraham and Sarah were half brother and sister.

Wasn't there something like "The Bible is to be taken metaphorically", else it wouldn't make too much sense on some parts. Like right at the beginning, with Adam and Eve.
But, it's a pretty old book and many things were percieved differently back then. The underlying meaning would still be the same, though.

I cant recall such a statment, Hmm.. but i do know that many churches and
religons regard the first five books at least to be fictional.

But yes there have been many transulations from many diffrent people
i guess its just one of those things that is divided on opinion.

EDIT - also the bible is very sybolic so its difficult to give accurate
    interpritations without offending someone.

Yeah, I know you guys can choose to sticky a thread by purchasing the option in the store, but try and use it wisely, lest you lose the privilidge.

I just think the bible is a work of fiction. Heres a question: if the Bible is meant to be written from the word of God then how come Man wrote it?

On the seventh dawn of the seventh day a twice-blessed man will roam the fields. Doomed to shadows with his brethren, or saviour to all who walk the ground.
